Responsible for supporting VAT ( Value Added Tax) planning matters relating to Raytheon Missiles & Defense and Raytheon Intelligence & Space, two business units of Raytheon Technologies Corporation. Proactively establish relations with functions that are responsible for the VAT life cycle at the business unit and provide VAT guidance and training to optimize their impact on the overall VAT position of the business. Assist in the development of and ensure alignment with strategic business and tax objectives to ensure compliance with local VAT laws and VAT efficiencies. Communication, collaboration, and coordination with other members of the tax group, as well as other headquarter functions as appropriate and necessary.

Major Accountabilities

  • Proactively support value added tax needs of regional business units

  • Understand business operations and key issues

  • Directly liaise with Digital Technology on VAT set-up improvements for existing ERP platforms

  • Assist with / participate in development of key tax strategies

  • Lead / support identification, development, and prioritization of contracts reviews and planning opportunities. The work includes VAT strategizing of government/defense contracts

  • Advise on tax implications with respect to acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and reorganizations

  • Support BU responsibilities for VAT compliance and audit functions

  • Communication and coordination of issues In this role you.


  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or other financial discipline, or equivalent financial experience

  • A minimum of 12 years of value added tax experience


  • US Citizenship is required

Technical competencies

  • Solid experience with setting up VAT logic within ERP systems (SAP, JDE, Oracle)

  • Ability to understand complex tax concepts and apply those concepts to minimize taxes

  • Ability to direct research and to implement complex tax planning strategies

  • Knowledge of regional indirect tax concepts affecting RTX operations

  • Understanding the impact of taxes on the financial statements and BU P/Ls, and identify opportunities to combine tax and accounting knowledge to improve business results

  • Ability to resolve complex technical issues, and recognize the need for and seeks out internal or external subject matter expertise
