We are seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer for an advanced communication system developed in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The selected candidate will participate in the specification, design, and development of systems using the latest in technologies and engineering practices.
The Communications and Airspace Management Systems (CAMS) Engineering Department designs and develops communication systems for US and international military customers. This team is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana and supports all aspects of the engineering life cycle. Near-term tasks for this requisition must be performed largely on-site, but many later assignments can be performed remotely.
This effort will require the selected candidate to:
Lead multi-disciplinary system development teams
Lead systems engineering activities
Develop coherent product specifications from multiple disparate source documents
Manage the requirements baseline
Ensure all requirements are met
Lead requirements development and management for systems, subsystems and modules, some of which will be provided by suppliers
Lead development of system-level architectures
Evaluate proposed solutions from internal and external suppliers
Oversee technical performance of suppliers
Interface with customers to address system operations, design concepts, and performance in order to ensure the mission effectiveness meets customer expectations for both new and existing capabilities
Support logistics and manufacturing
Lead planning and oversight of system integration, verification, and validation (IV&V)
Lead Earned Value management for assigned efforts
Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience
Prior experience as a manager or leader of a team of engineers and/or suppliers, Integrated Product Team, or Cross Functional Team
Architecture, design, and development of military systems
Familiarity with legacy military communication products
Knowledge of architecture modularity and design reuse
Active US DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Experience within a structured Systems Engineering process environment using Agile techniques
Prior working knowledge of military communication products, technologies, and processes
Prior working knowledge of military air and ground platforms
Prior working knowledge of digital waveforms, algorithms, RF signals and cosite mitigation
Prior engineering experience on product development or integration of systems into platforms
Prior engineering experience with transition and support from development to manufacturing
Applicable use of System Engineering tools including DOORS and architecture tools
Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs
Experience in dealing with government customers, management, and technical staff
Knowledge of CMMI Level 5 and ISO9001 process
Bachelor’s (BS) Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution (i.e. Electrical / Mechanical / Systems / Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.); or
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution with strong systems engineering training from a previous employer
Masters’ (MS) Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution (i.e. Electrical / Mechanical / Systems / Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.)
