As a member of the Supplier Quality Management (SQM) Team, the SQM Site Lead is accountable for eliminating and managing impact of supplier quality nonconforming product (escapes) at Collins’ facilities. Integral member to the site Quality Clinic and site Corrective/Preventive Action Process, driving fact-based product nonconformance discovery and subsequent root cause analysis with the goal of effective systemic corrective action. Manages source inspection and material release processes. Supplier Quality site focal and team member for supply-based Work Transfer initiatives.

Responsible for executing long-term strategy (more than 3 years) through continuous improvement and lean practices of SQM business processes. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement improved processes and advanced tools. Ensure organizational competency through oversight of onboarding processes, training curricula, and talent development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Site Supplier Quality Focal

  • Issuing and approving corrective actions to suppliers using LS business tools

  • Review and approval of compliance documentation including AS9102 First Article Reports and UTAS/LS required inspection documents

  • Perform fact-based data analysis of supply-based product non-conformances to support defect reduction via Zero Defect Plan methodologies (ZDP™)

  • Conduct investigations internally to support root cause and corrective action involving supply-based non-conforming product.

  • Support the execution of zero-defect plans, work transfer, UPPAP, and QN reduction initiatives at the suppliers

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives

  • Manage training and development to reach organizational competency goals

    Working Environment

  • Mobile, traveling 30% of time

  • Passport and available to travel domestically and international, by air

  • Must be able to lift items that weigh 30 lbs.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ-CQE

  • Qualified Auditor certified to ASQ and or AS9100 internal or lead auditor

  • Black Belt/Green Belt Certification

  • Competent in Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Gauge R&R) and SPC

  • SAP

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective/preventative action, and lean six sigma methodologies

  • Familiarity with the Collins Aerospace ACE tools

  • Fully competent in Blueprint, 3D Model and GD&T knowledge

  • Process Flow Diagramming, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans per SAE J J1739 for Advanced Product Quality Planning

  • Experience in review and approval of First Article Reports from suppliers per AS9102 (current rev.)
