The Mechanical Products Team leads the mechanical design, development and integration of platform systems. This includes truck/trailer shelter systems hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility & site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise in hardware design, integration and production support. The Mechanical Products Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Six Sigma principles.
The Mechanical Products Team is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in the Tactical Radars (TR) Department.
The department supports Command and Control (C2), Battle Field Radar (BFR), and Naval Systems products within the RMD business both domestically and internationally. The TR Department provides mechanical and hardware systems engineering expertise and provides support across locations in CA, AZ, and MA.
This position will be for the Fullerton, CA location.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Mechanical Design & Drafting section in the department providing technical lead as well as mechanical design. Position requires performing and collaboration within RMD on research, design, analysis, and development in such areas as mechanical systems, thermal systems, materials, test equipment, hardware processes, or manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Hardware Design Support – Requirements based Drafting & Design using CAD tools, peer review engineering documentation, build/assembly support, and installation support
Perform research, design, analysis, and development in the areas of mechanical design and engineering.
Perform technical drafting services in support of engineering drawing releases
Ensure tasks and assignments adhere to company internal processes and procedures.
Follow and ensure compliance with RMD and Mechanical Engineering process initiatives
Collaborate with RMD Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and TR department on strategies and goals.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Applied Sciences field and 4 years of engineering experience (MS degree and 2 years or Ph.D. with academic experience)
Four (4) years of systems, software, hardware and/or mechanical engineering experience
Work experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool – CREO, SolidWorks or Pro-E
Experience with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Hardware Design, Assembly, Installation, Integration, and/or Test
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Experience with Radar, Command and Control, or Naval Systems product areas
Experience in routing/switching/system administration domain knowledge
Experience with hands-on work; i.e. electronics packaging, HW assembly and deployment, field installation.
Self-motivated with strong organization skills
