The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).
The team in Fullerton, CA, is seeking a highly skilled Systems Architect with extensive subject matter expertise in the architecture and design of data communications and computer networking, to include experience in: Satellite Communications (Ground Communications Equipment), Radio Communications, Data Links, Tactical and Long-Haul Communications, Software Defined Network (SDN), and Computer Networks.
The Systems Architect must leverage multiple skillsets in areas such as system architecture, computer networking, and data communications. This position requires strong capabilities to drive technical solutions for multi-disciplined technical teams deploying and supporting telecommunications solutions.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Through analytical and problem solving; strong written and oral communication skills; solid judgment, reasoning, and decision making abilities, the System Architect will interface with customers to architect, design and lead innovative technical solutions in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities and deadline constraints requiring rapid turnarounds. Responsibilities include
Defining and designing system solutions that meet system requirements and customer needs across pursuits and programs.
Supporting all phases of the engineering lifecycle including systems analysis, operational concept development, proposal writing, requirements development and maintenance, conducting trade studies, architecture development, design, implementation, integration and verification.
Developing and presenting technical documentation including customer briefings, operational concepts, proposals, requirements, Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), trade studies, architecture and design.
Interfacing with stakeholders from the customer, from technical management and from engineering.
Traveling up to 10% of the year Outside of Continental United States (OCONUS), and up to 10% of the year within Continental United States (CONUS), as required and based on customer needs.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
Minimum of 10 years of architecture and design experience in data communications, to include any combination of the following areas:
Satellite Communications (Ground Communications Equipment)
Tactical and Long-Haul Communications
Software Defined Network (SDN)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
Experience documenting architecture using enterprise architectural tools (such as: Unified Modeling Language (UML), Rational System Architect).
Experience with Open Systems Architecture (OSA).
Experience with DevOps methodologies.
Experience with Modeling Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Experience with Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) and Enterprise Architect tools.
Experience with supporting deployment of persistent communications solutions in denied environments.
Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and Software Defined Networking (SDN).
Experience with Cloud/Hybrid Architecture and Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS).
Experience with Network Security.
Experience with Classified Networks and Cross-Domain Solutions.
Experience with military systems and Department of Defense (DOD) Architecture Frameworks.
Knowledge of Agile scrum methodology.
Current US Secret security clearance.
