Raytheon Technologies Process Engineer in Goleta, California

Raytheon Vision Systems, Vision Systems Manufacturing Center is seeking an experienced Process Engineer with a strong background in supporting Vacuum Dewar Fabrication. This position is for First Shift in a sustaining and support role. This position will focus on processes required in the manufacture of Infrared Vacuum Dewars specifically as it relates to Precision Alignment. The selected candidate will work with a team of Technicians, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Equipment Engineers in an ISO Class 5 Clean Room setting.

The position will also include managing process development and improvement projects, including novel processing techniques, yield increase, throughput, and safety improvements. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing material in WIP, certifying operators and hands on processing of novel electro-optic devices. The candidate should have familiarity with some or all of these processes: Precision Alignment, Wirebond, Vacuum Processing, Leak Check, Plating, Photolithography, and Metrology.

Specific knowledge of the processes and materials used in an Infrared Detector Packaging environment is desirable, including experience with advanced Precision Alignment techniques, with other categories desirable.

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or zero years with a Masters Degree

  • Experience in cleanroom or laboratory chemical processes

  • Experience with metrology equipment used in laboratory or cleanroom environments

  • Experience using MES systems in a Semiconductor manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity with cleanroom work environment and principles (ISO Class 5)

  • Experience in understanding chemical safety data and ability to follow and advise on safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective Equipment

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders

  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn and use engineering and manufacturing software)

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing full coverall garments

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA)

  • Candidate Must be able to obtain Government security clearance within 1 year

    Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Precision Alignment, Wirebond, Vacuum Life, Leak Check, Plating, Photolithography, and Metrology

  • Experience with Vacuum System technologies

  • Equipment and controls systems experience

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings or schematics

  • Good mechanical aptitude and/or chemical handling ability

  • Experience with Infrared Detector Technology

  • Advanced packaging experience

  • Industrial/Government experience or internships

  • Active Secret Clearance

    Required Education (including Major):

    Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience required
