We have immediate and upcoming opportunities with Lateral Test Capabilities at our highly sought-out Goleta facility (located near beautiful Santa Barbara, California) for a Senior Lab Support Engineer.
This is an opportunity to work in a creative and collaborative environment within out Specialty Engineering – Systems Engineering center. Lateral Test Capabilities is responsible for all Engineering laboratories in RIS - testing Space and Airborne products across multiple Raytheon product groups - and hold over 320 labs across the US. We provide electronics, Environmental testing, EMI testing, TEMPEST testing, cooling cart development, rapid prototyping and general engineering development lab support.
The Senior Lab Support Engineer provides our engineering labs with technical and engineering lab oversite.
You will use your strong lab support background to independently perform troubleshooting of engineering development hardware, setups, cabling interfaces and specialized test equipment workstations; perform project tracking, program scheduling, and tracking of lab test equipment and calibration requirements. The Senior Engineer also insures all lab property management task are compliant and supports general engineering tasks to include interfacing with programs, security, Environmental Health & Safety and facilities. Typical duties include:
Develop workstation area layouts and diagrams; maintaining electrical hardware workstations and support interface equipment
Interfacing daily with multiple program lead engineers to meet current and future program lab test requirements and schedules
Performs calibration for test equipment and tools; tracking the calibration schedule for all test equipment and measurement tools and facilitating the collection and return from calibration services contractor(s)
Communicating with and functioning as liaison between specialized test equipment, general parts suppliers to insure successful repair / replacement of hardware and restoration of effected device or part.
Creating and submitting all required Raytheon Technologies process forms for various transactions, specifically: RFPQ (Request for Repair Quote), PR (Purchase Request), Excess Equipment, Red Tag, Environmental Health & Safety Lab Audit
Requires a four-year Degree plus minimum 8 years of related experience – OR – an equivalent combination of education and experience, to include:
Electrical hardware verification and validation; electrical troubleshooting of unit level-to- systems to identify root cause of failure; experience with use of common and specialized test equipment
Prior experience in a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) environment, working in a team environment with very diverse levels of engineers
Strong verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills
Experience with project management / oversight
Strong attention to detail skills are critical to insure 100% compliance of processes
Prior experience in a dynamic test engineering lab environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Experience performing ‘hands-on’ lab support across all assigned statement of work
Must be a U.S. Citizen with Active (or active within past 2 years) DoD Secret Clearance.

Experience in execution of environmental tests including vibration, shock, temperature cycling, temperature shock, temperature altitude, temperature humidity
Fixture design for climatic and dynamic tests
Write test plans, procedures, reports, proposals, basis of estimates (BOE)
Light programming to produce automated testing, reporting, and documentation
Experience using Pro Engineer, MatLab, ANSYS Structural Analysis
Support testing performed at offsite labs
Bachelor’s Degree plus 8 yrs experience – OR - equivalent combination of education and experience.
