The qualified candidate will be a motivated self-starter performing the following duties;
Works as a REA (Responsible Engineering Authority) to strengthen program’s results with leading edge technologies and optimum FPM (Focal Plane Module) solutions.
Continue to transform the industry by taking on the hardest problems and accepting challenges from customers and Peers.
Cooperate as an integral member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) contributing to successful program outcomes under demanding cost and schedule constraints
Design and develop space-based optical systems and tactical ISR Satellites providing our nation and its allies with critical warfighting advantages.
Develop initial concepts of Opto-Mechanical Assemblies through final part design using 3D Solid Modeling
Perform Design for Manufacturability Trade Studies to optimize fabrication / integration cost reductions
Iterate designs with Structural / Thermal Analysts to optimize survival / reliability requirements
Complete Technical Data Package (TDP) 2D documentation of Solid Model designs
Create Initial Releases and perform Revisions of TDP in Product Data Management (PDM) system
Lead efforts to provide solutions to supplier and technology challenges including, but not limited to, Manufacturing support and Sustaining / Liaison Engineering role
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Mechanical design preferably in the Aerospace industry
Proficiency in mechanical design with 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO 5 preferred)
Experienced in PDM release (Windchill preferred)
Experienced in GD&T per ANSI Y14.5 and performing tolerance stack-up analysis
Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Ability to track and report progress against schedule milestone requirements to meet drawing release dates
Ability to delegate assignments to less experienced Engineers and check their work for accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively with Management and IPT status of daily assignments
US Citizenship is required as this position will require a DoD Secret clearance within 1st year of employment
Ability and willingness to perform Sustaining Engineering duties in support of the Manufacturing Department
Experience developing detailed mechanical designs for optical, electrical and/or mechanical systems
Experience designing infrared products
Experience designing products for cryogenic environments
Experience leading large teams, interfacing with internal / external customers and guiding other engineers
Experience leading Peer Review meetings
Experience with Gate Release process for product development
Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
Experience Managing Program Schedules and Budgets and reporting status to Program Management
Experience creating Proposals for business development
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
Required Education (including Major):
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical preferred
