Raytheon Technologies Sr Principal Operations Engineer in Goleta, California
Reporting to the Vision Systems Director of Operations, the Senior Principal Operations Engineer will support ongoing Operations activities through technical leadership of our manufacturing and process automation systems. This role will provide technical leadership to ensure instrumentation and automation systems are designed and operating to meet production needs, assist with strategic planning of continuous improvements to new and existing processes, and long range facility planning. They will be involved in identifying automation opportunities, planning and leading projects including working with other groups to advance the Vision Systems Manufacturing Center automation implementations. They will lead the identification of site automation design philosophy and standards as well as project implementations as necessary to achieve production success.
Support the Vision Systems Manufacturing Center (VSMC) Director in the execution of the business strategy by transforming VSMC into a semi-automated, high-yield assembly & integration factory
Apply knowledge of R6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and state of the art manufacturing principles, best practices and innovation to transform VSMC into a high rate/high yield automated manufacturing center that delivers cost competitive products in support of RVS’ growth trajectory
Partner with VSMC leaders to manage allocated capital budgets and investments for automation activities
Planning and execution of plant projects involving complex equipment changes and significant process improvements.
Provides mentorship and training to more junior members of the group
Performs in a leadership role when required (project or Automation group)
Provide SME support to Manufacturing and other departments for the design and operation of process automation equipment.
Participates in IPT in addition to other meetings when assigned as the Operations Automation representative
Review SOPs, Functional Specifications, and work instructions.
Minimum 10 years in operations or engineering leadership, project management, or related role/experience.
Substantial experience in the identification of productivity opportunities for automation implementation.
Strong experience in the design and operation of process automation systems, both in manufacturing and support systems.
Project definition, management and coordination experience associated with the execution of capital equipment and manufacturing process improvement projects in an industrial environment.
Ability to collaborate daily with cross-functional teams in a fast paced, robust matrixed environment.
Ability to synthesize large amounts of data from disparate sources to convey program and functional health
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within one year of start date.
New product introduction experience, especially in high product mix manufacturing environments
Experience in micro-electronics, Electro-Optical/Infra-Red detectors, semi-conductor device fabrication
Substantial experience with SAP, MES (Manufacturing Enterprise System) integration required.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
