Raytheon Technologies Sr. Components Engineer / Principal Components Engineer - Radiation Hardened in Huntsville, Alabama

The selected candidate will perform and/or assist in the performance of Parts Engineering, Components Engineering or Applications engineering tasks supporting programs in the proposal, System Design Description, Low Rate Initial Production (SDD, LRIP), production and support phases. Position will require day to day interface with designers, product development engineering, Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) function, program management, and other disciplines. Will be required to determine program statement of work (SOW) and other defined customer component application requirements. Determine program component environmental / characteristic application requirements. Provide technology insertion and parts selection/standardization guidance while adhering to business, component parametric, application environmental and circuit application constraints. Interface with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to develop component risk and verification delineation. Create component verification data packages with supporting data. Provide applications engineering support to multiple program integrated product teams (IPT's.) Facilitate component selection and libraries application through the coordination and generation of the program bill of material (BOM) in a collaboration toolset. Presentation of component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of program preliminary and critical design reviews (PDR’s / CDR’s.)

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
A minimum of 5years of technical working knowledge of electronic component parts and their application is required.
Experience with component obsolescence management methodologies
Experience with the development or maintenance of component data/drawings
Experience with BOM (Bill of Material) development and management for developmental and production programs
Experience with component applications for natural space radiation environments in LEO, MEO and/or GEO orbits
Qualifications We Value:
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other closely related science or engineering degree
Experience with Weibull distribution curves describing a part’s performance in Man-made or Natural Space radiation environments
Familiarity with electronic piece-part characterization/testing for radiation environments/susceptibility
Familiarity with mitigation strategies (ex. Circumvent and recover, Operate-through, software/firmware error correction, etc.)
Understanding of the application of technical theories and concepts as they apply to electronic components and the parts management field
Demonstrated knowledge of component failure modes, component reliability and military specifications and standards
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and hierarchy definition.
Active electronic circuit design experience.
Mentor Graphics Expedition or Design Architect and circuit simulation/analysis tools (PSPICE, - Analog Workbench).
Knowledge of component failure modes by commodity
Knowledge component reliability process monitors and/or qualification methodologies
Knowledge of Component MIL drawings, standards, test specifications, and associated QPLs and QMLs.
Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for use in military, and aerospace flight applications.
Knowledge of analog design and analysis, general knowledge of digital circuitry and interfaces.
Knowledge and experience with use of lab common equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzer, etc.).
Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and test equipment.
Knowledge of circuit card and PWB manufacturing processes
Effective communication and the ability to work with and take directions from Functional Management, and Programmatic Leads from multiple programs.
Data collection and presentation skills to adequately discuss system impact of component obsolescence issue
Experience with Parts Standardization application and technology insertion within the design process
Experience with component applications for man-made or hostile endoatmospheric and/or exoatmospheric radiation environments including electromagnetic pulse
Familiarity with MIL-STD-1809, Space Environment for USAF Space Vehicles and EEE-INST-002: Instructions for EEE Parts Selection, Screening, Qualification and Derating requirements
Knowledge of Electronic component risk/reliability assessment and electronic piece-part failure modes for Man-made and Natural Space Environments
