Job Summary:

We are currently hiring a Sr Software Engineer to join the Raytheon Missiles & Defense Software Engineering team as we protect our Warfighter and make the world a safer place. This opportunity is in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

The Sr Software Engineer role will encompass, to varying degrees, all phases of the software engineering life cycle. The Sr Software Engineer will work as both an individual contributor and team member using Agile development practices. A willingness and desire to work across engineering domains, the ability to learn new skills, and quickly adapt to changing environments is necessary. Software development is primarily in the C++ languages.

Duties may also include:

• Software Engineering and C++ programming

• Object oriented development

• Software, test development, and/or integration

• Working in an integration lab environment, working on hardware

• Utilizing Agile Software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, continuous integration, etc.)

• Interfacing with engineering team members and management, as well as internal and external customers

This position can be a Sr Software Engineer I or a Principal Software Engineer, based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related STEM field. An advanced degree may be substituted for 2 additional years of experience

• 5+ years professional Software Engineering, C/C++; scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python) and/or MATLAB

• Experience designing real-time embedded software on multi-core systems and/or object-oriented development

• Experience with UNIX based operating systems (primarily Linux)

• Software, test development, and/or integration

An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance is required to start.

Qualifications We Value:

• 8+ years professional Software Engineering

• Experience working in a multi-disciplined product development team/environment

• Ability to work in an integration lab environment working on hardware

• Experience using software source control tools and/or automated build environments

• Experience with Agile Software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, continuous integration, etc.)

• Experience using embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOSs) (e.g. Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, etc.)

• Experience designing with FPGAs and SoC’s (System-On-Chips)

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related STEM field

• Strong communication skills
