Job Summary

Performs painting tasks using lacquer, rust-proofing agent, or other coating onto metal, wood stock, or fabricated items. May involve special finishing techniques such as marbling and graining that insures surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements and filling out the appropriate documentation. Prepares items by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing in various additives.


Required to have thorough knowledge of any of the accepted surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, process descriptions, and specifications. May transfer items to and from work area. May use a hoist device to lift production units. May be designated according to article painted. Paints articles using brushes and other methods, and will be required to use a spray gun and wear an air-supplied hood.

Required education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience

Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a secret security clearance if required. 189837
