The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer will join our Electrical Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN, possessing expert level knowledge in design for electromagnetic compatibility and modeling electromagnetic behaviors. The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer will be able to immediately contribute to development efforts, working with minimal direction and oversight, following both Raytheon and industry best practices and processes. The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer should have hands on expertise designing digital and analog circuits for compliance to Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3). The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer should have hands on expertise performing analysis, simulations and models of the effects of E3 on circuits and resulting circuit behaviors. The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer represents the design team in meetings or events both internal and with the Government as appropriate to review design concepts, preliminary design, detailed designs and design verification results of E3 behaviors of our products. The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers in the department, helping to build and maintain strong core capability in robust EMI/EMC design. The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer will support all phases of the development process working with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, architecting new systems, modeling algorithms, performing simulations, and performing design verification against requirements.
The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer will serve as an expert in E3 design and performance. Responsibilities will include helping define and implement EMI/EMC requirements, performing system level design for E3 compliance (grounding/isolation, electrical bonding, filtering and shielding), performing analysis, simulation and modeling of high frequency radiation hazards, coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity and system interfaces, supporting E3 testing and generating EMI control plans, test guidelines, procedures and reports. Responsibilities will include working within a team environment providing design support from requirements definition through integration and test.
Minimum of 8 years related experience in EMI/EMC design and/or EMI/EMC analysis, simulation and modeling.
Deep working knowledge of MIL-STD 461/464/704 or equivalent commercial standards
Experience delivering compliant EMI/EMC solutions to system level applications.
Hands-on experience with operation of electrical test equipment such as digitizing oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analyzers, EMI receivers, low noise amplifiers, signal generators, multimeters, etc.
Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance
MS or PHD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related STEM Field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
Experience with software modeling tools such as MatLab, MathCAD, PSPICE and ANSYS HFSS.
Familiarity with Aircraft and/or Ground Support Equipment operating environments
Proficient in product EMI/EMC testing
Experience with DoD development process including product qualification tests and test techniques
Current/active DoD Secret level or higher clearance
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University – Preferred Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program 184483
