At EPP/Collins Aerospace our ACE operating system is what makes us a leader in OEM/MRO manufacturing. The ACE I.E. role is crucial to the implementation and execution of the ACE operating system. They will get to work with ALL employees from shop floor to senior leadership, as well as high visibility and impact with potential for advancement and future growth.

The ACE I.E. will support Engineering and Operations in the implementation of ACE and continuous improvement activities to ensure the achievement of EPP goals and objectives. ACE and continuous improvement activities will include but are not be limited to cycle time reduction; quality improvement; inventory reduction; part and process flow improvement; better floor space utilization through 5’s; and total cost reduction through the application of ACE / CI tools and techniques.

Primary Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the ACE / CI Manager and Guidance Management Team (GMT),

  • Lead, coordinate, and facilitate accelerated process improvement consistent with EPP business goals and objectives as delineated in the ACE/CI macro plan.

With the ACE / CI Manager, the ACE I.E. is responsible for the development and implementation of ACE / CI strategies supporting aggressive business goals. Having a broad understanding of the manufacturing process, the ACE I.E. will be successful by:

  • Understanding and using ACE / CI principles and tools

  • Plan/lead/co-lead lean events and activities

  • Providing ACE / CI training and teaching (OJT)

  • Removing barriers for the implementation of ACE / CI culture

  • Monitoring progress of ACE / CI implementation in the manufacturing work cells

  • Performing necessary follow-up actions to close out “to-do” actions after Kaizen


  • The ACE I.E. is also expected to be competent in process analysis and problem solving including process flow analysis, designing and implementing visual controls for visual management, mistake proofing analysis.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field with 3 years of continuous improvement experience OR

  • 7 years of continuous improvement experience, excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in a continuous improvement role, including successful implementation of CI, leading of projects, leading others, training or participating in continuous improvement activities; operations or business exposure; active participation in team or improvement activities.

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly verbal skills in group settings where there may be resistance to change; interpersonal skills and ability to lead, facilitate and motivate teams; has a bias for action and sense of urgency to obtain results; good listener; uses planning and follows processes; customer and continuous improvement focus; willing to stand-up and be a change agent – take and push unpopular positions.

  • Previous lean, 6 Sigma, Toyota Production System, ACE/AIM, Danaher Business System or similar operating system rooted in a culture of continuous improvement and lean principles.
