Our Aircraft Interiors business unit is seeking a Supply Chain Intern to join the Supply Chain team in July 2022 at their Aircraft Seating facility in Kilkeel, Co. Down.

JOB TITLE: Supply Chain Intern

DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

RESPONSIBLE TO: Purchasing Director

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week. Hours of work will be 8:30am – 5:15pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 1:00pm Friday. The post holder may be required at times to work outside his/her normal working hours for the effective performance of the duties of the post

Key Purpose:

The company will mentor and train an intern/placement within the Aircraft Seating Supply Chain and logistics function on key aspects of this vital function within the business. Specific projects will be allocated to the successful candidate in order to support key improvements activities currently taking place within this function.

Principle duties:

  • Organise and co-ordinate supply chain events e.g. value engineering, vendor managed inventory etc.

  • Supporting new product introduction activities.

  • Work closely with the commodity team.

  • Provide input to the strategic commodity strategies.

  • Provide administration support in day to day activities within the Supply Chain / Logistics team.

    The Person

    The successful candidate will be able:

  • To work as an effective member of a team, in order to fulfil the necessary requirements of the job and able to create and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.

  • Able to plan an efficient and appropriate course of action. Prioritise and plan activities taking into account all the relevant issues/factors. Set up and monitor timescales and plans.

  • Pay attention to the finer details of own work. Able to ensure the accuracy of work.

  • Communicate effectively with others (individuals/groups), both verbally and in writing. Able to effectively use a variety of communication methods (e.g. telephone, e-mail).

  • Able to work quickly and accurately while under pressure to meet deadlines. Support the achievement of departmental KPI’s.

Essential Criteria:

  • Studying towards a degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business related discipline.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous relevant work experience in a Supply Chain

  • 6 months previous experience working in an administrator role.
