The Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) Integrated Digital Intelligence & Automation Systems Engineering team is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and innovative team member. The selected candidates will collaborate with local factory leadership, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, operations, supply chain, and front end of the business Automation System Engineers to execute automation development, deployment, and factory sustainment of automation systems. The Automation Systems Engineer incorporates advanced Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies as well as identify opportunities for process improvements via lean techniques.
The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge on automation technologies and Industry 4/Smart Factory concepts as they relate to current/future project execution as well as debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability and yield.
The position will be networked across RIS factories, which includes locations in McKinney (TX), Forest (MS), Santa Barbara County (CA), El Segundo (CA) and Largo (FL), in addition to operations and automation engineers from other Raytheon Technologies business units.
Key responsibilities for the qualified candidate include: The RIS Advanced Manufacturing, Modernization, and Technology (AMMT) team is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative team member to join the multi-discipline Automation Engineering team as a DevOps/Digital Factory Software developer.
This position will aid in the maintenance and troubleshooting of deployed factory automation software as well as contribute to both the user interface and the back end components of the various software systems, configure and program automation and control systems, and utilize various third party APIs to create new device drivers. Responsibilities include participation in the entire factory automation software development life cycle as well as learning, supporting and enhancing Raytheon’s IoT and Digital Factory platforms. Work as an integrated multi-discipline team member as well as with factory support across multiple geographical locations.
Assist in development of new IoT and Industry 4.0 features and functionality that keep the platform current.
Work with IT and Operations to ensure success of Advanced Manufacturing Processes, including Cyber Security of these systems.
Develop improved user training and speed adoption of new tools on the factory floor.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in programming ability, be a self-starter, have an engineering mindset, and the ability to provide troubleshooting support.
They have the ability to adapt and work with both IT and operations in this DevOps role. This position requires travel to various locations around the country and some off-hours work to support factory maintenance and deployments.
Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Internship or college coursework in IT, OT or other integration projects.
Education or experience with some of the following Database, Web server, Storage, Network, Active Directory
Strong written and Verbal communication skills
Ability to work with Integration of Hardware and Software Systems
Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying).
Understanding of automation programming environments
LabVIEW and Test Stand or Python expertise
Familiarity with DevOps, Scrum, and/or Agile
Familiarity with SCADA systems Deployment and Support
Understanding of networking and communications architecture
Familiarity with Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory concepts, Digital Manufacturing Simulation
Understanding of Lean principles and terminology
Experience with cyber and/or cyber-physical systems security protocols
Familiarity with SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
Experience with PLCs, MTConnect, and/or Transactional Automation (use of API, XML)
Familiarity with ISA-95 and ISA-99 Architectures
Experience or education in systems engineering and application to automation systems.
Experience in integrating multi-disciplined projects
Integration with robotics and various forms of physical and digital automation
Must have a BACHELOR'S and MASTER'S degree with a major in Software or Computer Engineering or equivalent technical discipline by Summer 2020 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.
