This is role will be supporting our lighting repair area with maintaining equipment to ensure line functionality and working with new test equipment. This is a very team-based group but will also have the opportunity to take on some development projects to improve line efficiency. This is a growing area of the business and will be located in the brand-new building in Lenexa.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing electrical/electromechanical schematics and drawings during design/development and production stages

  • Creating/updating test procedures and tester documentation based on evaluation of the procedures and equipment as well as input from the test technicians

  • Providing technical guidance and timely problem resolution in support of manufacturing operators and test technicians to facilitate assembly and test performance

  • Creating assembly work instructions, routings, and bill of materials based on the engineering drawings and/or models

  • Supporting the investigation of root cause of failures/defects and implementing corrective action to support continuous improvement

  • Troubleshoot existing manufacturing processes, fixtures, tooling or equipment and develop more reliable solutions

  • Initiating and implementing necessary engineering changes to improve manufacturability

  • Provides technical leadership with test staff to diagnose issues with electrical troubleshooting down to component level in Analog and Digital applications

  • Design layout, product flow and documentation supporting new product introduction and improvement projects on existing products.

  • Coordinate with operations and finance to complete cost analysis and pricing proposals by estimating labor, materials and tooling costs

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR

  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts

  • Successfully develop solutions to routine technical problems

  • Ability to read schematics and basic knowledge of reading mechanical drawings

  • Experience using MS Office Suite of tools

  • Experience using CAD tools

  • Ability to work in a multi discipline team environment

  • Articulate status and results

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Previous Engineering project experience

  • Exposure to PCB theory course work

  • Exposure to documentation repositories and documentation change processes

  • Exposure to circuit board assembly and cable assembling processes

  • Familiarity with Analog, Digital and RF Instrumentation (Oscilloscope, DMM,, Network Analyzer, Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter)

  • Experience programming with C++, LabVIEW, AutoCAD

  • Ability to research and distill data into meaningful information
