Raytheon Technologies FPGA/Digital Module Designer in McKinney, Texas

We are currently seeking professional engineers with strong Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and digital/mixed signal module design experience to join the Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Systems (ISRS) EO Electronics department in the McKinney, TX or Dallas, TX locations. The candidate will be involved in all areas of FPGA and/or digital/mixed signal design including specification development, functional implementation, integration, and test of firmware and/or digital/mixed signal module designs. FPGA design scope could include but is not limited to VHDL/Verilog design, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis and timing closure with integration and test in a lab setting. For digital/mixed signal module design, tasking will include but is not limited to digital/mixed signal design to module requirements, circuit analyses, circuit layout, and module integration and test for compliance in a lab setting.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of engineering experience to include 3 years of experience working with FPGAs or similar configurable logic design

  • 5 years of engineering experience to include 3 years of experience working with digital/mixed signal designs

  • Experience with VHDL or Verilog

  • Experience with digital/mixed signal design CAD Tools

  • Team player with excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Mentor Expedition, Cadence Allegro, or similar PCB tool suite

  • Experience with Xilinx, Altera/Intel, or Microsemi FPGAs or Systems on a Chip

  • Familiarity with Vivado, Quartus, or Libero

  • Proficiency with VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog

  • Familiarity with Electro-Optical Electronics and airborne and space platforms

    FPGA Experience with one or more of the following areas:

  • Coding reusable IP blocks

  • Closing timing issues

  • Clock domain crossings

  • Creating test benches

  • Generating FPGA device pin outs

  • Porting preexisting or legacy code into new FPGA devices

  • Establishing and using UVM

  • Implementation of digital signal processing algorithms

  • High-speed and video firmware development (desired)

  • Experience translating MATLAB algorithms into VHDL implementations

  • Implementation of control loops

  • Hardware design experience including schematic capture or circuit layout

    Experience with communication interfaces such as:

  • PCIe, 1GBe/10GBe Ethernet, UART, JTAG, RS-232, RS-422, I2C, LVDS, SPI, JESD204B

  • Volatile and nonvolatile memory interfaces such as: DDR4, DDR3, FIFOs, Flash memory

  • Peripheral device interfaces such as: ADC/DACs, Temperature sensors, humidity sensors, accelerometer sensors, LEDs

    Digital/Mixed Signal Design, Integration and Test Experience:

  • Circuit design

  • Circuit Simulation and Analyses

  • Power and Signal Integrity Analyses

  • Layout and Routing Rules

  • Circuit Card Assemblies

  • Design Verification and Test

  • Module design life cycle (Requirements Development, Preliminary and Detailed Design, Module Verification, Performance Anomaly Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations)


    Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering and/or a related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline

    Current Secret or Top Secret Clearance

    The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
