Raytheon Technologies Principal Physics Engineer in McKinney, Texas
The Raytheon RI&S Optical Hardware and Test Development team is seeking a Principal Physics Engineer to join our team in McKinney, Texas.

Qualified candidates will be able to apply knowledge and experience of Optics and Lasers to provide next generation design, direction and evaluation of Advanced Optical Systems and Performance.
As part of an Engineering Team, this position may include performing critical component evaluations, testing and troubleshooting of optical components and system assemblies; providing expertise to evaluate and solve design and quality issues to meet system requirements.
Contribute to multiple programs as a technical resource.
Work and contribute in a fast paced, integrated, multi-disciplined team environment.
Required Skills:
8+ years of Experience in Optics or Laser Engineering.
Experience in Visible, SWIR and IR Optics
Ability to understand and troubleshoot optical test stations and recommend/implement repairs and upgrades as required to support production needs.
Direct, hands-on experience with Optical Test and Alignment Equipment, such as Interferometers, Autocollimators and associated support equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate same.
Ability to work in a Class 7 Clean Room environment
Ability to use Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance, US Citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
Experience with CodeV or Zemax
Experience with CREO or equivalent
Familiarity with MIL Spec MIL-PRF-13830.
Prior experience in Defense or Aerospace
Familiarity with ANZI Z540
Experience persuading investment in optical metrology and test equipment
Active Secret Clearance
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics
Desired Education:
- Master's in Optics, Physics and/or Laser Technology
