Raytheon Technologies Principal Reliability Engineer in McKinney, Texas

Raytheon Technologies is seeking qualified candidates for engineering positions in the Whole Life

Engineering Department. Whole Life Engineering ensures that Raytheon Technologies' products are the most dependable, safe, user friendly, supportable, and cost-effective solutions available to the end user. Attaining mission readiness and field results is predicated on involvement by all Whole Life Engineering disciplines throughout the product lifecycle. Department personnel provide Integrated Product Team Leadership, Reliability & Maintainability Engineering, System Safety, and Cost Engineering solutions to multiple programs across the Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance business area. We have an immediate opportunity for a Principal Reliability Engineer to join our team.

The candidate will be an integral part of the Whole Life Engineering team as a Principal Reliability Engineer

performing Whole Life Engineering tasks in accordance with established procedures supporting electro-optical infrared product lines. The team member will conduct the following tasks, as necessary, in order to

guide product reliability:

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity with no supervision

  • Reliability analyses (FMECA - Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis, reliability predictions) as applicable

  • Lead Failure Review Board meetings to discuss details of failures and failure trending

  • Facilitate and lead failure investigations

  • Failure resolution through active administration of FRACAS system (Failure data collection/analysis, failure analysis, root cause & corrective action determination, facilitation of corrective action implementation, failure investigation reporting)

  • Internal and external supplier interface to resolve reliability issues

  • Effectively communicate, both written and orally, with a diverse group of people including program administration, proposal administration and customers, and represent Whole Life Engineering in technical meetings and program reviews

  • Lead trade study investigations

  • Work with other stake holders to prioritize and drive/lead improvement projects

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years related work experience

  • Experience collaborating with engineering, suppliers, and quality teams

  • Experience applying technical Reliability theories and concepts

  • Experience developing and leading a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action system

  • Experience influencing system design for Reliability through all product life cycle phases

  • Experience solving technical issues on complex electronic and/or electromechanical systems

  • Experience reading, interpreting, and applying engineering drawings; including assembly drawings, parts lists, wire lists, and schematics

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Power Point

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required as only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Active DoD Secret/Top Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience applying physics of failure principles and analyses

  • Proactive and effective in addressing technical issues with customers and program design teams

  • Ability to work well with all organizational levels and other engineering disciplines

  • Cross-product or integrated-product team leadership

  • General understanding in the application of diverse Whole Life Engineering disciplines

  • Experience training and developing junior engineers

  • Experience with military documentation as it relates to reliability, maintainability and testability

engineering

  • Experience working in the DoD customer community (US Army, US Air Force, US Navy)

  • Experience working with Reliability toolsets e.g. WebRAD, Reliasoft’s XFRACAS and Synthesis Tool Suite or similar tools

  • Familiar with database interface tools e.g. ORACLE, SQL, ACCESS, etc

Required Education (including Major):

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline. Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering preferred
