Raytheon Technologies Principal Software Engineer_Algorithms in McKinney, Texas
High Energy Laser (HEL) Software Engineering has an immediate opportunity for an algorithm and software engineer with a background in computer vision and signal processing, to support development of electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensor target tracking algorithms and software.
The algorithm and software engineer will aid in the design and implementation of state-of-the-art image tracking algorithms, in both passive and active EO/IR imagery. Focus will be on design, development, and emulation of algorithms addressing current and next generation tracking problems, and software implementation on real-time processors, including current and next generation CPU and GPU architectures.
Generate target tracker requirements and performance analysis
Design and implementation of tracker algorithms in multiple EO/IR sensor domains
Ownership of current tracker architectures, and identification of enhancement areas
Design and development of next generation image processing/AI-ML techniques
Support implementation of tracker algorithms in real-time software on embedded hardware
Support tracker integration and testing, field test exercises, data reduction, and performance V&V
Assist in the development of tracker roadmaps
Minimum of 8 years related engineering experience with tracker design and development, tracker test and verification, signal and image processing, and algorithm development with EO/IR/Vis imaging systems, with a Bachelors or 6 years of related engineering experience with related Master’s degree.
Demonstrated experience with MATLAB, C+
- Experience in numerical modeling and simulation, performance analysis, and algorithm development.
Demonstrated experience with algorithm designs based on real-world imagery.
Familiarity with current state of tracker system designs, and image processing and computer vision techniques used for imaging target detection and tracking.
Willingness to work on physical systems with systems engineers, and travel to assist in system integration and test events
Willingness to work occasional overtime in support of critical program events.
Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form, and work within multi-disciplined teams. This includes demonstrated effective communication with internal and external customers.
The ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance within one year of start date
Experience with high-speed tracking systems used for HEL weapons or EO/IR imaging tracking systems.
Experience with CUDA programming
Experience with real-time and embedded system programming
Familiarity with EO/IR physics and phenomenology, and physics-based modeling of targets and backgrounds
Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Engineering, or related discipline, with background in signal and image processing, real-time computer architectures, computer vision, and machine learning techniques.
