We have career growth opportunities for a Principal Test Engineer to join our Test Automation Department in our Manufacturing Center in McKinney.
The Test Automation Department (TAD) is responsible for the design and development of test equipment hardware and software for a wide range of products and customers. The Air Multimode Radar (AMR) Test Automation section within TAD is a growing and highly motivated team who consistently provides quality on-time on-cost solutions to support external and internal customers seeking innovative and economical solutions for their product lines. Being located at McKinney Common Manufacturing Center (CMC) the section also supports change incorporation, advanced troubleshooting, and obsolescence redesign and Software development efforts of various legacy systems in direct support of production capabilities. Position has potential domestic travel up to 10% in support of development activities.
Primary responsibilities will be to develop test software to exercise and analyze deliverable product. Additionally, support Radio Frequency (RF) test set design and maintenance. Also, must be familiar with test equipment while working as a member of a multi-disciplined engineering team. The successful candidate will possess technical skills in electrical system troubleshooting and test verification capabilities and Test Software development. Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program / functional / factory supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met. Candidate must be able to support cradle to grave efforts including proposal generation, conceptual modeling, detailed design, integration, and verification activities. The candidate will typically be the primary and often sole developer for the entire Hardware/Software (HW/SW) development cycle.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires an active and in-scope US security clearance
Minimum of 8 years Unit Under Test (UUT) or equivalent test software development and maintenance of automated production and testing events such as Environment Stress Screening (ESS) (Thermal and/or Vibe), Unit and Acceptance Testing (UT/AT), or Device Verification Test (DVT)
Experience developing and maintaining Graphical User Interface (GUI) and/or Test Program Set (TPS) UUT or equivalent test software
Experience with interfacing UUT or equivalent test software with laboratory and production tests instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, direct current power supplies, etc.
Experience planning, conducting, coordinating, and managing technical UUT or equivalent test software development activities such as requirements, design, integration, validation, and/or maintenance
Knowledge of software configuration management environments such as Subversion or Git
Ability to understand UUT and customer test requirements
Experience using test equipment such as Oscilloscope, Digital Multi-Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Phase Noise Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Frequency Counter, Hybrid Direct Current (DC) Power Supply, RF Signal Generator, Arbitrary Waveform Generator, RF Power Meter. RF system level test equipment knowledge required (Device Under Test (DUT) gain, Noise figure, flatness measurements)
Experience building strong relationships and effectively collaborating with distributed teams across multiple sites
Experience working and communicating with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team
Experience leading small team of UUT test software developers through develop/maintenance activities for production and testing events
Experience communicating to program and/or functional management UUT test software activities
Knowledge with UUT test software proposals, schedule, and cost activities for UUT production and testing events
Experience with C, C++, and C# programming languages
Knowledge of National Instruments Lab Windows/CVI, LabVIEW, and Test Stand
Sense of process discipline, order, and attention to detail
Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
Experience with modular instrument platforms such as PCI extensions for Instrumentation (PXI)
Professional engineering experience working within a team environment
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and adapt to sudden changes to priorities
Knowledge of Configuration Management principles, environments, and tools
Bachelor's degree in a related STEM discipline
BS and 6 years of experience or MS and 4 years of experience
Master's degree in related STEM discipline
Bachelor’s Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) dual/double major
