Our Systems Engineering Center – Advanced Electro-Optics (E/O) group has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Lead - Airborne Systems - Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Engineer to join our dynamic, diverse, and rapidly growing team. You will lead an IV&V team supporting the integration and test of a new Airborne High Energy Laser system:
oversee and manage the technical personnel on the Integrated Product team (IPT); provide senior-level IV&V testing expertise; generate IPT status and reporting to the program Chief Engineer and Program Manager; plan and execute subsystem and system level integration and test activities; manage cost, budgets and act as Cost Account Manager (CAM) during execution phase; provide overall technical oversight and direction of the Integration and Test team, etc.
Minimum of 10 years of related systems engineering experience to include systems test, integration and verification experience with airborne and/or electro-optic (EO/IR) systems.
Experience with requirements development, analysis, derivations, verification and validation.
Experience working within a structured Systems Engineering process environment including a task-oriented, value-based management system; some IPTL or related experience is helpful.
Requires prior engineering team leadership experience, ideally to include systems / IV&V activities.
Ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams of program management and system design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software and logistics engineers.
Requires excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and be able to effectively communicate with IPT leaders, hardware and software development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and customers.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with Active (or active within past 2 years) DoD Secret clearance.
The ideal candidate will have technical experience with System Level IV&V of podded airborne systems, Electro-Optic Infrared (EOIR) imaging systems and/or High Energy Lasers (HEL):
Technical experience with System Level Integration, Verification and Validation on Electro-Optic Infrared (EOIR) imaging systems and High Energy Lasers (HEL).
Demonstrated experience with IV&V efforts on podded airborne systems.
Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Microsoft Project, engineering tools (e.g., DOORS) and peer review products.
Direct experience with and/or working knowledge of environmental test requirements pertaining to Military Standards including; MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-67, MIL-STD-1399, MIL - STD – 1540, MIL - STD – 461.
Direct experience with and/or working knowledge of Environmental Tests including requirements analysis, procedure development, test conduct and evaluation of results. Experience in some or all of the following are highly desirable: EMI/EMC, shock, vibration, altitude, temperature, sand/dust, humidity, explosive atmosphere, crash safety, and reliability growth testing.
Satellite Communication systems definition, design, and development experience and/or experience with defining and evolving communication architectures.
Proposal support experience including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
Direct experience with and/or working knowledge of field support activities.
Agile/Scrum program experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related STEM discipline.
Desired Education: Master of Science degree in a related STEM discipline
