Are you ready to go beyond?This position is for an engineer to support the manufacture of critical components for jet engines in terms of the metallurgical requirements of the parts. Areas of responsibilities include heat treating, plasma spray coating, welding, inertia bonding, machining, shot peeing and other manufacturing processes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for metallurgical sample preparation, evaluation, disposition and quality documentation of materials and processes. Interpretation of blue prints, specifications, procedures and laboratory manuals to assess what testing is required and conformance to requirements is a critical aspect of this position.
Regular interaction with the production shop as well as other engineering disciplines to help respond to metallurgical problems and develop effective root cause and corrective action for manufacturing problems.
Cross training to provide support for other areas of the lab.
Weekend / holiday coverage on a rotational basis shall be expected.
Position may also require occasional off-shift coverage based on business requirements.
Additional responsibilities include process approval and auditing of special processes.
An effective team player and contributor is sought who will help the lab maintain its EH&S and operating requirements in order to assure a safe and productive working environment.
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Five years of metallurgical preparation, chemical & mechanical testing, evaluation and documentation
Software skills that include Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Quality or manufacturing background with an emphasis on manufacturing processes, materials, root cause investigations and corrective action
