Pratt & Whitney is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Senior Manager, Structures Engineering in Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) with demonstrated technical leadership skills as well as experience in managing a group of engineers.
Integration with the CIPT, partners, mating modules and system design disciplines in execution of structures tasks supporting mature & development Commercial and/or Military Engine Fans and Compressors.
Strong background in structures analysis methods across broad product families.
Demonstrate understanding of fundamentals of the associated physics and enable developments and advancements in IBR structural durability, stability and reliability.
Developing a fully capable structures team, planning and managing technical program tasks and milestones, manpower planning including coordinating in-house and outsource resources, employee development and performance assessments.
Lead the structures team administratively and technically.
Perform a wide range of structures analyses in support of commercial and military aircraft gas turbine engine programs.
Prepare and deliver presentation materials to internal management and to airframe or government customers/regulators in formal design reviews and other settings.
Provide cradle-to-grave support, from preliminary through detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
Prescribe instrumentation requirements for test measurement of stresses and vibration parameters. Monitor engine testing, prepare assessments of test results, troubleshoot engine validation, production or field problems and recommend solutions.
Address discipline proficiency and training requirements.
Continuously develop the Structures swim-lane of Engineering Knowledge Works, including content integrity and periodic Total Productive Maintenance, methodology and process improvements that enhance product quality and reduce product cost.
Develop, manage & execute outsourcing strategy.
Ensure Outsourcing work is completed, reviewed and approved by structures associates with appropriate proficiency level.
Exceptional people and problem solving skills and will be the “go to person” for help in answering difficult structures questions.
BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or engineering or equivalent experience and 8+ years prior relevant engineering experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and 5+ years prior relevant engineering experience.
10+ years of Structures Engineering experience with proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics, Ansys, and classical methods of analysis required OR 7+ years of Structures Engineering experience with proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics, Ansys, and classical methods of analysis with and an Advance Degree.
Broad understanding of hardware, blueprints and manufacturing methods.
3+ years of leadership experience.
US Person Status required due to government contract.
5+ years of leadership experience.
Fan/LPC/HPC Structures experience and automated design optimization skills is a plus.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.
