The Pratt & Whitney Amercon Manufacturing Engineering Organization is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the production of turbine airfoils.

The Manufacturing Engineer's responsibilities and essential functions include:

  • Help create and maintain shop floor work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, QAD/process control, and tooling definition/requirements.)

  • Provide focused & effective leadership in eliminating EH&S/Ergonomics/Human Factors risks and addressing quality issues. Identify & implement shop floor process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent QCPC turn backs /escapes and reduce overall assembly costs.

  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives supporting the achievement of meeting the ACE 12.2 criteria.

  • Implementation of new capital equipment from specification and ordering through delivery, installation and release to production.

  • Improve current manufacturing processes to reduce costs and increase reliability and control of these operations.

  • Gather all necessary data respective to non-conformances and provide relentless root cause and positive corrective actions.

    • Significant interaction with the hourly work force, tool designers, quality assurance, integrated product teams, systems designers, Information Systems, and program assembly partners are typical of the position.

    Training & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of manufacturing experience OR an Associate’s degree and 2-6 years of manufacturing experience. (Preference: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.)

    Experience/Qualifications:

  • Applicable manufacturing engineering experience and turbine airfoil processing knowledge are a strong plus for this position.

  • A working-knowledge of lean manufacturing tools including Process Certification & Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, QCPC/Root-Cause Analysis and Set-Up Reduction/Mistake Proofing.

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.

  • Strong project engineering/planning skills.

  • Understanding of NC programming.
