Raytheon Technologies Program Manager - Principal Specialist in Middletown, Rhode Island

Who we are

Raytheon BBN, a noted high-tech research & development company, seeks a creative, organized, people-centered candidate to fill the role of Team Leader - Program Manager in our Physical Sciences & Systems business unit.

What you will do

Leading a team of talented technical staff, you will manage multiple projects comprising a larger complex program, a role requiring significant interaction with technical staff and mentorship of less experienced members of the team. You will gain knowledge of the technical work and history of innovative research that continues to move the program forward. You will advise and collaborate with the technical staff on customer interactions and will be responsible for monitoring spending, staffing, contract schedule, and deliverables. You will have the opportunity to manage multiple proposals and R&D contracts. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will keep the team on task and on budget, and your flexibility and creativity will allow you to adapt to the customer’s changing needs. The ideal candidate will be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to efficiently handle complex program management issues while helping researchers focus on the technical work to be achieved and the big picture of their efforts.

What you will need

  • Bachelors in engineering, business or equivalent and 5 years of experience; MS plus 3 years

  • Expertise in the MS Office Suite, including MS Project

  • Experience with financial tracking, including the use of MS Excel

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience leading and coordinating a multi-person team, including giving presentations and leading meetings

  • Experience with task planning, staffing, and tracking of projects with multiple personnel

  • Experience working on proposals

  • Flexibility and creativity to adapt to changing customer needs

  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams

  • Position may require some amount of overnight travel.

  • Willingness to apply for and be granted a Secret US Government security clearance.

    Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience in managing and proposing Government-funded contracts

  • Additional direct experience between 8 and 10 years

  • Strong quantitative skills

  • Experience in dealing with government compliance processes such as export/import control

  • Active US Government security clearance

  • Experience calculating earned value

  • Experience with managing subcontractors and vendors
