This position is located at William J Hughes FAA Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ with initial training and orientation in Mt Laurel, NJ.
In this position, the candidate will provide support to the FAA for the STARS Program. Support tasking can include software development, cyber support, design and execution of detailed software test plans/procedures for STARS software integration following the FAA process, supporting the investigation of software anomalies, developing software fixes and enhancements using the C language and supporting system trouble shooting on a RHEL environment. The candidate will work collaboratively with the customer and other contractors, both as individual and part of a team, providing directed support to the STARS program. Most of the work is during standard business hours however, testing events may take place during weekends and evening hours.
Responsibilities and scope can include:
Software design, development and integration
Supporting software troubleshooting and analysis
Support development of software fixes using C programming on the RHEL operating system
Perform test-engineering activities, which may include test requirements, test environment design, test procedure development, integration and test execution, and test reports.
Work with a team to incorporate the testing results into formal reports presenting the finding to the customer, management, and other program teams
Support occasional travel up to several weeks at a time
Support occasional overtime and/or non-standard shifts during test events.
Communicate effectively with the cross-functional engineering team and with engineering and program management
Provide weekly written and verbal status reports to the team and management
Other duties as assigned
Ability to obtain a FAA clearance
2 years relevant experience with software development and analysis using C and/or Java
Knowledge of software test conduct, integration, test and validation activities, testing methodologies and analysis tools
Knowledge of Linux operating systems
Ability for occasional travel up to several weeks at a time
Ability to work occasional overtime and/or non-standard shifts
Experience with Air Traffic Control Systems (ATC)
Experience with Standard Terminal Area Replacement System (STARS)
Understanding of ATC Standard Operating Procedures
Knowledge of ATC concepts including but not limited to ADSB, WAM (Wide Area Multilateration) and ATC Radar fusion
Experience designing and preparing automated testing
Experience with Red Hat Linux
Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS and SQLplus or similar query language
Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation clearance
BS/BA in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related STEM degree
