This position is a seasoned professional in Materials and Processing Engineer Engineering who works independently and in collaboration with other manufacturing design personnel. Analyzes designs and develops component processing systems to meet customer and internal needs. Coordinates and implements sequence of operations, and product updates and enhancements. The ideal candidate requires a good balance of a strong background in landing gear overhaul practices, in-depth technical knowledge of landing gear chemical processing techniques, combined with the ability to develop and implement aircraft component plating practices in least waste way.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Works independently to perform activities related to planning and designing manufacturing processes and specification requirements to ensure full utilization of manufacturing equipment.• Reviews and applies active processing industry requirements to surface finishing, sample testing and machining• Analyzes machinery and equipment designs to ensure factory and production conditions are met.• Coordinates and implements operations sequencing and specification procedures to ensure compliance and quality in the fabrication of tools and equipment.• Helps to support existing product line design activities and/or operational process modifications to help enhance products and processes.• Provides technical leadership and helps train operational staff to diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.• Ensures all process handling requirements are met

• Support special process and annual NADCAP audits for surface finishing and machining• Ensure chemical tanks are sample test monthly per internal and external specifications• Plans sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.• Maintains statistical process control of NADCAP equipment operations.• Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Technical expertise / Training

  • Deliver On-The-Job training for component technicians and inspectors to existing and new product introduction

  • Lead and / or participate in least waste way initiatives using ACE tools, lean events and other continuous improvement methods to improve existing standard work and flow of product

  • Interface with NADCAP / Regulatory authorities and customers during audits, and initiate Root-cause Analysis and Corrective Actions as outlined in any re-work and / or audit reports. Interface with customers on an as-needed basis

  • Review designs of electrodes, anodes and racks chemical processing

  • Review technique sheets and their application in the surface finishing process

  • Lead chemical process analysis for all operations within the Miami MRO

  • Provide direction and oversight to lab technician

  • Ensure Collins policies, systems standards and customer requirements are complied with.

  • Compliance

  • Achieve 100% compliance to all Environmental Health and Safety policies, corporate policies and procedures and other regulatory requirements. Personally and visibly promote ethics and compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Collins, OEM and customer engineering technical data

  • Ensures Engineering and Configuration process outputs are in compliance with Aviation Regulations and customer technical and regulatory requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ year’s of experience in a chemical processing / plating environment

  • Experience with landing gear MRO chemical processing practices

  • Knowledge of FAA and EASA regulations for aircraft maintenance & certification

  • SAP experience

  • National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) familiarity

  • Experience in leading continuous improvement events and the use of continuous improvement tools and methodology
