In this role, you will work on focused projects primarily at the Navy FORGE SW Factory in Riverdale, MD, with a team of initially 20 engineers and growing to 60+ engineers including Product Owners, Full Stack Developers, Platform Engineers, Naval Systems Domain SMEs, System Testers and Cyber Security professionals. You will support the Navy customer by transforming legacy applications, which comprise a vast spectrum of programming languages, operating systems and framework types, to run as containerized applications and micro-services on cloud native platforms.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Must have proven experience architecting solutions for large, complex, software (SW) intensive systems.
Must be a creative SW architect that can work closely with customers architecting solutions in line with cost and schedule constraints.
You must have “hands on”, experience defining SW architectures, developing SW applications as 12 Factor micro-service, system test experience and experience using system modelling tools with a strong understanding of Digital Engineering concepts.
Must be a self-starter, excellent communicator and a strong team player to thrive in this fast paced agile environment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) (Preferred Degrees: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or other related degree. ABET is preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.)
Minimum of 10 years of experience developing architectures for software and data intensive systems with highly complex user interfaces.
Ability to work directly with Customers and End Users to architect solutions that improve operational workflows
Java expert with experience and familiarity building modern cloud based applications using Spring frameworks
Experience with container technologies and container orchestration is essential
Active DoD Secret clearance or higher
Qualifications We Value:
Practical experience with Agile / DevSecOps
Experience developing, integrating and testing software, including 3rd party applications
Experience building Twelve-Factor applications (micro-services) and using a Domain Driven Design
Experience transforming legacy, monolithic applications into cloud native applications (micro-services or containers) that run on commercial platforms
Experience with portfolio analysis and workload migration
Experience with major cloud service providers e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud
Experience architecting an event driven system of micro-services that work together to achieve a mission result
Experience evolving architectures including Application Interfaces (APIs), events, and integrations
Experience integrating and contract testing across micro-services
Familiarity with System Modelling tools and Digital Engineering concepts
