Raytheon Technologies Cyber Engineer in Riverdale, Maryland

Raytheon Intelligence and Space’s (RIS) NOAA EPIC Program is seeking a Cyber Engineer to work in a fast-paced Agile development setting for performing operations, design, and development of science-driven applications to operate in on-premise or cloud-based High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.  EPIC provides acceleration community-developed scientific and technological enhancements into the operational applications for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and improved Research to Operations (R2O). This position has the ability to work remote.

What You'll Get to Do:

As a Cyber Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) for NOAA.

As a Cyber Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Perform vulnerability scans on all community contributions for reducing risk to the master version control system (VCS) baseline.

  • Perform security scans using SWAMP in a Box, Nessus, and ClamAV on the current baseline and dependencies to ensure a known security baseline is set.

  • Monitor source code contributions to the VCS, and notify NOAA of any malicious activity.

  • Ensure that all contributed code is clean prior to entry into NOAA’s open source development environment

  • Providing EPIC community best practices on data structure, based on UFS code and data types, using real-time sessions and screen sharing.

  • Perform a FOSSology scan to validate that NOAA is not releasing licensed/copyrighted code into the community VCS.

    You Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably a STEM degree) and at least 2 years of cyber security experience.

  • At least 2 years of protecting On-premise and Cloud-base infrastructure, as well as legacy and Cloud-native applications, from malicious digital attacks.

  • At least 2 years of programming / scripting experience in Python, C++, Java, and JavaScript within an Agile development environment.

  • At least 1 year of developing and implementing secure network solutions.

  • At least 1 year of performing assessments and penetration testing.

  • Experience troubleshooting, identifying unauthorized access, and offering solutions for enterprise system and network security postures.

  • Experience performing incident response with risk management and data protection measures.

  • Experience monitoring daily network traffic, SIEM logs, for unusual activities.

  • The ability to evaluate system changes for security implications and the knowledge to make recommendations for improvements

  • Knowledge of current cyber security trends and methodologies, as well as the continued research of emerging trends and hacking techniques

    Due to the nature of the work, we can only consider U.S. Person (US Person/ Permanent Resident ‘Green Card’ holder) who m ust be able to pass a National Agency Clearance with Inquires (NACI) screenings.

    It Would Be Great if You Also Had One or More of the following:

  • Experience implementing and using Cloud-based security services.
