Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manager, Materials Planning & SIOP to be responsible for managing two or more functional areas or teams, which may include production control, receiving, shipping, warehousing/supermarkets, line feeding/materials handling and/or inventory control. The Materials Manager may also be responsible for managing specific SIOP processes and reporting within the site.

Additionally, this position may have responsibility to manage or monitor Logistics, Import/Export, 3PL operations, indirect procurement or tactical direct procurement groups. This position manages a site focused team of experienced professionals or team leaders and reports to the next level site/campus Materials leader.

This role owns the execution of short-term plans and Materials related projects within their assigned functional area. They are expected to respond to a variety of issues, contribute to solutions, coordinate with other Materials leaders and drive improvements within their functional area(s).

This is a collaborative role with interactions and coordination with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, IT, Product Development and 3PL partners. This role focuses on achieving on time delivery, inventory targets, materials management strategies and materials initiatives. The Materials Manager will support Materials governance principles and lead continuous improvement activities using ACE (CORE) and AIM operating systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set plans and execute on short to medium term strategies and projects (up to 2 years) for materials management functional areas.

  • Responsible for evaluating, coaching, guidance and identifying learning opportunities to direct staff members.

  • Ensure materials compliance through the adherence to company rules, policies, guidelines and audits applicable to the site.

  • Establish leading key performance indicators associated with functional areas performance and reports and oversee corrective and preventive countermeasures aligned with QCPC processes.

  • Communicate site performance related to inventory, delivery and cost.

  • Support and provide input on processes to optimize SIOP, capacity planning, production and inventory planning that is aligned with applicable policies and established goals for the area.

  • Integrate the flow of materials and information to optimize operational objectives through training and strategic projects.

  • Engage and collaborate on Materials projects and initiatives across the site.

  • Foster collaboration within discipline to execute product flow strategies.

  • Participate in Materials leader forums and GMTs focused on SIOP maturity, training and career roadmap.

  • Organize and coordinate SAP training for team members as needed.

  • Drive SAP planning parameter compliance and process adherence within scope of work.

  • Engage in key projects, including product transfers, new product introductions, business systems applications, supplier integration, logistics or other related projects within scope of work.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Managerial experience in materials or related fields

  • ERP/MRP Systems and process experience

  • Continuous improvement skills (Lean, Six Sigma, ACE, CORE)

  • Excellent written and verbal communications

  • Experience in developing presentations to influence others

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Logistics, Business, Finance or Industrial Engineering degrees preferred

  • SAP Systems and process experience

  • APICS Certification

  • Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Strong analytics, numerical and reasoning skills

  • Negotiation skills

  • Results oriented, with a strong bias for action and results

  • Skilled at building teams and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced work environment

  • Change Management leadership, certification, training and experience
