Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering to manage primarily entry and intermediate professionals and/or team leaders within the Technical / Business Support and Production / Maintenance employee teams. You will solve difficult but not complex problems, set day-to-day goals and objectives for team members and explain policies, practices, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establishes day to day objectives and guidelines for manufacturing processes, product specifications, and other areas of manufacturing engineering.

  • Provides direction to employees and directs recruitment of support/entry level staff.

  • Responsibility Statements Supervises the activities of entry to professional level engineers who design manufacturing processes and specifications that will improve the efficiency and productivity of the organization’s manufacturing operations.

  • Takes ownership for the successful implementation of projects to ensure that business objectives are achieved.

  • Plans or directs the designs and layout for assembly and materials handling.

  • Consults or negotiates with lines of business to adapt machine and equipment design to factory and production standards.

  • Mentors team members and coordinates activities involving operations sequencing and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment to ensure quality product performance.

  • Provides technical leadership to develop statistical process control manufacturing processes and demonstrates continuous development on those techniques.

  • Provides guidance for engineering design concepts and specification requirements to ensure manufacturing equipment is fully utilized.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Demonstrate complete understanding and use of wide application of manufacturing technical principles, theories and concepts in the field.

  • Advanced understanding of the manufacturing process and able to utilize/interpret drawings & specifications to drive producibility improvements (High Complexity)

  • Knowledge of CAD program

  • Knowledge of ERP systems

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Tools

  • Knowledge of aluminum, steels, nickel base alloys, titanium, composites, graphite epoxy, Kevlar, fiberglass and/or adhesives.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop procedures, planning, technical information and BOM

  • Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace experience with metal or composite bonding

  • Experience with CATIA, 2D drawings/blueprints and GD&T

  • TeamCenter, SharePoint, SAP experience

  • Analytical skills including tools such as: Excel, Power BI, Tableau or other data analytical software

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma or ACE

  • Use of advanced problem-solving techniques for complex process challenges.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems involving quality, on-time delivery and manufacturing costs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to foster a positive work environment

  • Must be able to clearly communicate to multiple functions

  • Flexible and motivated with strong relationship building skills - internal, external with customers and suppliers
