The Associate Director, Business Development – Electrification for the Electric Power Systems business unit will lead business development and strategic positioning for our aircraft electrification initiative. Responsibilities include customer engagement to identify, pursue and capture new business opportunities aligned with the strategic direction of aircraft electrification (including hybrid-electric propulsion). Responsibility for execution of the Pursuit to Order Capture process element of the Collins Management System (CMS) value stream inclusive of conducting Gate 1 – 3 reviews as appropriate to effectively manage the targeted pursuits for the aircraft electrification team.
This role will focus on identifying internal and external strategic issues, guiding financial modeling, synthesizing trend data, and evaluating growth opportunities. This position directs the planning and preparation of business proposals and key industry partnerships.
• Synthesizes current business intelligence or trend data, makes recommendations for actions, and provides market insights.
• Identifies internal and external strategic issues which could affect growth and profitability to help develop long-range objectives and strategic plans for the corporation or a major division.
• Guides the financial modeling for representing and predicting the outcomes of various business strategies to drive the implementation of strategies and initiatives.
• Monitors and evaluates the external environment for financial growth opportunities.
• Supports the oversight of a business development project team which evaluates, analyzes, and formulates strategies to lead business growth.
• Directs the planning and preparation of business proposals and makes recommendations to senior management to drive strategic decision making.
• Responsible for establishing strategic business development initiatives that drive corporate growth through product expansion and alliances and leads customer relations management.
• Works with marketing, sales and technology groups to implement business development strategies for aircraft electrification and drive market segmentation.
• Consults with various legal and administrative personnel to ensure compliance with all product and business initiatives.
• Analyzes information and develops proposals.
• Conducts financial analyses of prospective business ventures.
• Prepares proposals and prepares key negotiation terms.
• Manages industrial participation / offset arrangements.
Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years’ experience OR
In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Aerospace Industry experience preferred
Experience with disruptive technologies and/or Hybrid Electric Propulsion
Experience in a customer facing role is preferred
Operational understanding of manufacturing, decision point and engineering processes is preferred
Basic production configuration management, planning principles and ERP system tools (i.e. SAP) is preferred
