This position is for an experienced Mechanical Engineer.
This person will execute all elements/activities of product design and development and testing. They will be responsible for enhancing commonality and optimization of product and components across the entire Mission Systems Business Unit.
The role’s primary focus will be on the design and development of Gearbox, Rotating, Pump products. Experience in Tribology, CAD, and CFD.
Manage elements of product design and development activities including requirements review and decomposition, concepts, analysis, cost & timing estimates, and proposal inputs
Generate and manage all design and development activities associated with the concept and Detailed Design to include models/drawings parts, specifications, analysis, and technical design control documentation for components, sub-systems, and systems
Define, document, and execute development, acceptance, and qualification testing for assigned components, sub-systems and systems
Define, document and execute all design change activities identified throughout the complete product lifecycle
Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy
Evaluate and analyze mechanical hardware to determine relevancy and cost effectiveness for incorporation into current and future products
Coordinate/Collaborate across the Mission System Business Unit to identify opportunities for commonization and optimization of product and process
Work with quality clinic and related departments to support the test and verification of field issues
Support the selection and coordination of product vendors throughout the entire product lifecycle to include vendor qualification, issue resolution, and product acceptance
Manage, execute, document, and present the results of Relentless Root Cause Corrective Action (RRCCA) investigations crossing functional boundaries
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
• Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
• In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
• Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• 5 + years of MCAD experience
• 5+ years of CFD and Thermal Analysis
