Raytheon Technologies Sr Mgr, Executive & Employee Communications in Rosslyn, Virginia

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced communications professional to join our Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) Executive and Employee Communications (E&EC) team, reporting to the associate director of E&EC. This position can be based in any location.

The senior manager of Engineering & Mission Assurance communications is responsible for developing the strategy, planning, execution, and measurement of employee communications for Engineering & Mission Assurance. This individual will lead executive communications for the Vice President, Engineering & Mission Assurance, and will be responsible for developing communications to educate employees about Engineering & Mission Assurance efforts that drive business outcomes, transformation, and innovation. This individual will work closely with the communicators in the talent acquisition, product line businesses, digital and social media communicators, and media relations communicators to ensure alignment and coordination of engineering communication strategies and messages.

This role requires a proven communications professional who is proactive, possesses strategic thinking, exceptional writing skills, an ability to work with senior leaders of a matrixed organization providing direct counsel and executive support. The successful candidate will be a strong team player and partner.

The position will serve as a trusted communications advisor, analyzing situations/challenges, identifying gaps/opportunities, providing recommended courses of action, and developing and executing effective communications in support of business priorities. The ideal candidate is a strategic, driven, and enthusiastic communicator who can produce written and visual storytelling content quickly with minimal oversight and editing, align to strategy, and find new ways to insert the vice president of Engineering & Mission Assurance into industry conversations.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead executive communications for the Engineering & Mission Assurance Vice President including the development of written and video messages, presentations for speaking engagements and Town Hall meetings and management of the executive’s social media.

  • Work with senior leaders across RI&S Engineering & Mission Assurance to align and integrate business-wide communications plans and messages.

  • Translate complex language and business objectives into easy-to-understand and actionable articles, messages, presentations, videos, and more.

  • Develop strategic messaging and execute innovative communications tactics to drive employee awareness and alignment using a variety of communications channels (intranet, email, video, virtual meetings).

  • Ability to work in fast paced, quick-turn environment.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience in Journalism, Public Relations or Communications with 10+ years of work experience.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong executive presence and experience with executive coaching/counsel/planning/writing.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and social communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees, leadership, and external organizations.

  • Demonstrated success working effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time and resources, organize, and prioritize work across multiple projects, be detail oriented and work within tight deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency, strong work ethic and positive attitude.

  • Ability to adapt tone and style of communications to suit different specialized and general audiences.

  • Strong executive presence and ability to understand executive voice

  • Ability to use data for rhetorical impact.

  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines.

  • Demonstrated agility and adaptability to changes in direction.

  • Proven ability to balance and deliver on multiple projects.

  • Capable of visual storytelling and message simplification.

Desired Skills:

  • Proven success preparing and presenting materials on behalf of executives.

  • Progressive experience in Internal Communications; demonstrated track record of success.

  • Deep knowledge of executive and internal communications strategies and channels, including effective use of digital and video communications.

  • Ability to define, articulate, and market a strategic vision and execution plan using data to generate insights and action.

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the aerospace and defense industry.

  • Experience using data to address business challenges and develop.
