Raytheon Applied Signal Technology is a diversified intelligence and defense company that develops systems to provide integrated sensor and signal processing products in support of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
Our Engineering Division has a need for an Infrastructure Engineering Intern to design, develop, integrate, and maintain advanced high-capacity systems that process modern high-speed communications for the US intelligence community. The effective candidate shall be skilled at the integration and maintenance of a product, including debugging issues to root causes. The effective candidate will also have a excellent understanding of concepts related to networking, software architecture, and standard programming practices.
The candidate will work with other experienced developers in our Salt Lake City office for the protection of our country. The successful candidate will also generate briefings and present material clearly to team members, customers, and Raytheon Applied Signal Technology management as necessary
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
• G04 (College Junior by Fall 2021) - must have completed 60 hours of college
• G05 (College Senior by Fall 2021) - must have completed 90 hours of college
• NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2021) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program
Requirements:
•
Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2021
•
Experience in C/C++
•
Working knowledge of Linux or Unix
•
Software development experience (i.e. internship, co-op, team based projects, etc.)
•
Experience with Object Oriented Design and Development
•
Experience with multi-threaded code
•
Experience verifying and validating the software and system work as intended
•
Experience working both in a team environment and individually
•
Experience developing, coding, testing, and debugging complex algorithms
•
U.S. Citizenship
•
Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Desired Requirements:
•
ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
•
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
•
Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases
•
Exposure to Communications Systems and theory and Signal Processing concepts
•
Experience with Object Oriented Design and Development
•
Experience with Configuration Management tools, such as git
•
Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Perl
•
Experience with UI development
•
Experience with Qt
•
Experience and/or knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP
•
Experience with or basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing
•
Experience with system-level integration and testing, specifically, the integration of advanced, custom processing systems, testbeds, and software
Required Education: Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2021.
Must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics Major, or equivalent technical discipline.
