Collins Aerospace is looking for a highly qualified, energetic, and experienced leader to lead our Textiles and Furnace Deck teams in Spokane, WA. This position plans, organizes, directs, and controls all departmental operations while meeting safety, quality, on time delivery, financial, and continuous improvement goals. The Senior operations manager is responsible for the overall success of the Textiles and Furnace Deck departments.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience in planning and allocation of resources, materials and scheduling of equipment for maximum utilization of production facilities and labor. As a champion of process improvement, they will lead by example, teaching their team how to embrace lean principles and lead projects such as evaluating physical layout of machinery, introduction of new or revised processing techniques, and efficient sequencing of operations and workflow

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Operations organization to consistently achieve customer, operational and financial targets

  • Ensure robust operational and communication rhythms (e.g. production meetings) to effectively and proactively identify key production challenges; drive timely closure of all open actions and issues across the matrix with respective owners

  • Drive a world-class safety culture, and partner closely with EH&S to ensure all requirements are met and maintained

  • Partner with Quality to complete DIVEs and/or drive resolution to open issues regarding turn backs or escapes

  • Oversees cost reduction and process improvement for the departments to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.

  • Assess and evolve organizational design to ensure optimal alignment, hourly and salary headcount numbers, and allocation to ensure successful completion deliverables

  • Oversees sequencing of work such as build and delivery for the departments to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources including demonstrated development and coaching of staff to ensure continuous improvement of company culture.

  • Lead and drive headcount planning actions, as well as the assessment and development of talent across the organization

  • Manage departmental expense and capital budgets, including developing annual budget and spending plans.

  • Drive daily production to meet master schedule and OTD requirements.

  • Take an active role in identifying training needs, nurturing, challenging, and developing both direct and indirect reports in their positions for future job opportunities.

  • Monitor and provide actions around equipment utilization and labor hours (Productivity, Efficiency and Utilization)

  • Foster a high-performance culture with emphasis on ethics, collaboration, and customer focus

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years management or direct supervisory experience

  • Experience with a variety of aerospace programs, customers, and processes across both military and commercial platforms.

  • Operational experience with Furnace Deck and Textiles equipment/processes

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex teams; experience leading leaders

  • Detail and results-oriented with demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver on commitments while balancing strategic, business and competing priorities

  • ACE Associate and/or Six Sigma, Lean, or demonstrated experience with continuous process improvement

  • Able to conduct independent data analysis, manage budgets and deal with ambiguous situations.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and process control.

  • Experience with Delta V and/or ABB control systems.

  • Ability to drive action and accountability in a matrixed environment

  • Experience managing capital projects and expenses

  • Experience using SAP

  • Proven ability to promote and implement change

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
