Position Overview

The Simulation Solutions & Services (SS&S) Defense Systems department seeks a highly motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented entry level software engineer (new graduate) to work on training system programs that support our Department of Defense customers. Successful candidate will apply their academic theoretical software programming knowledge to design, develop, integrate, and test new tactical and mission-focused capabilities and features. Candidate will work in an Agile development environment with moderate supervision and interact with software, systems, hardware, and test engineers as well as with project leadership. This position requires the ability to obtain a US security clearance. All aspects of the job are done in a classified lab environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, integrate, test, and debug real time systems software

  • Work with cross functional Agile teams to understand customer requirements and deliver solutions within specified budget, schedule, and scope

  • Support, maintain, and enhance existing software products

  • Participate in Agile meetings: daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and program increment planning events

  • Generate engineering design documentation and participate in software code peer reviews

  • Provide accurate time estimates for software development efforts (story point estimation)

  • Actively learn new technologies and techniques and apply them to new domains and problem sets

  • Travel to support onsite installation, integration, and test activities

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and less than 2 years prior relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ or other Object-Oriented Programming languages

  • Usage of Configuration Management tools (SVN, Git, ClearCase, etc.)

  • Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Visual Studio or Eclipse

  • Windows 10, and/or Linux software development

  • Agile, Kanban, or SCRUM development methodologies

  • Strong teaming and customer focus

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Active Clearance (within 24 months)
