The Mechanical Product Technology (MPT) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The MPT uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.
The Rapid Hardware Solutions (RHS) department of MPT is chartered to deliver agile services. We bridge across Operations and Engineering, providing solutions through the execution of quick-turn design, procurement, manufacturing and environmental test services.
RHS is skilled in special test equipment, program trainers, environmental test and cooling systems mechanical design. We utilize Pro/Engineer and Common Product Data Management (PDM) with tailored release processes for maximum cross-use and flexibility.
RHS executes prototyping and high-mix/low-rate procurement and fabrication activities with a focus on in-house electro-mechanical packaging, support equipment and liquid cooling systems integration, and partner with outside suppliers to satisfy all demands. We strive to minimize cycle times and provide best value through the utilization of dynamic and agile processes.
This position is for a mechanical Engineer to support the Accelerated Learning Center Section. The Accelerated Learning Center is a collaborative team with a charter to enable accelerated learning and rapid engineering response to design activity. Capabilities and enablers include polymer additive manufacturing, 3D laser scanning and small unmanned aerial systems.
Responsibilities to anticipate:
Executing as part of a small team during product development, drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation to meet a set of requirements.
Creating documents per the Raytheon Missiles & Defense guidelines, and releasing them in the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
Utilize CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation
Leading the effort to ensure procurement and build processes are executed to the program’s schedule
Providing support to questions and issues as they arise during both procurement and build (both internally to Raytheon and with suppliers) and resolving issues with the documentation via Change Requests
Support rapid prototyping via additive manufacturing
Support reverse engineering, hardware measurement, hardware inspection, and 3D documentation via 3D laser scanning technologies
Operate and maintain small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) in support of aerial photography and videography, photogrammetry modeling, surveying and aerial payload testing.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
Minimum of 2 years of engineering related experience in the area of design and manufacturing
Ability to interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines and suppliers to resolve technical issues
Support quick turn design to meet stringent program schedules
Capable of troubleshoot issues quickly, solving complex problems, sharing knowledge and documenting work
Experience in solid modeling tools such as Pro/Engineer, Solidworks or similar tool
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Self-motivated with effective oral and written communication skills
Detail oriented with strong coordination skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Qualifications We Value:
Experienced in Geometric Dimension & Tolerance
Experience with technical and cost proposal development
Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications
Understanding of the product development lifecycle models and program lifecycle modes
Ability to resolve technical issues resulting from manufacturing or supplier inquiries
Solid understanding of configuration management practices
Experience with earned value management and reporting of task metrics and analysis
Experience using CREO Parametric CAD design and documentation tools
Experience with Windchill PDM or similar product data management tool
Experience in polymer base additive manufacturing process and work flow
Experience in hardware prototyping, design for additive manufacturing
Experience in 3D laser scanning, 3D laser scanning data post processing software such as InnovMetric PolyWorks, 3DSystems Geomagic Design-X
Experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and processing software such as Autodesk ReCap Pro, Autodesk Revit
