Our Landing Systems Business Unit headquartered in Troy, Ohio designs, tests and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated landing systems. Our innovative solutions include lighter-weight, high-strength materials; more electric technologies; DURACARB® carbon friction material; EDL® extended life configurations; and innovative aircraft gear, wheel and brake design. We have an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer III at our Troy, OH location just outside of Dayton, OH.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assure processes, including equipment, fixture design, routings, programming, tooling, and standard work in support of the following processes: Assembly Processes for Aircraft Brakes and Wheels, Machining, Anodize, Chemical Etch, Aluminum Conversion Coating, Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Waste Water Treatment, and Shot Peen.

  • Continuously improve quality and productivity using the Ace Operating System for products and processes including compliance to these processes.

  • Identify and implement cost savings as related to direct and indirect labor savings, and expense account budgets.

  • Ability to lead activities related to compliance audits including AS9100, NADCAP, etc.

  • Provide technical support for serving as liaison between Value Streams, Quality Assurance, EH&S and Design Engineering.

  • Project and Contractor Management

  • Capital Projects management

  • New Manufacturing Technology Development

  • Mentoring new hire engineers in early career development

  • Must be a U.S citizen or U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required; Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • More than 10 years’ experience in support of manufacturing operations with a focus on problem solving in a 5-axis machining environment

  • Machining experience including: fixture design, tooling, tool life management, CNC Programming and Geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing (GDAT).

  • Experience with the continuous improvement philosophy including working within an environment that embraces the daily use of these tools in a team environment.

  • Experience operating within a fast paced manufacturing company.

  • Candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills utilizing tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Intermediate user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including MS Project. Experience with intermediate level functions in Excel such as analysis tool pack and macro programming.

  • Ability to work independently and with small teams.

  • Project and Budget Management.

  • Project work implementing new equipment and technologies into a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AS9100 Quality Management System experience

  • 3D CAD software applications (Pro E, Master CAM, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, VeriCut, VeriSim, etc.)

  • Experience with CNC Controller Post-processors

  • Design experience with Siemens NX
