The Value Stream Leader (VSL) has direct accountability for the wheel and brake programs assigned within the Military Value Stream. The VSL is the singularly assigned leader with direct accountability for the overall program success throughout the product life cycle. The VSL chairs the IPT and holds the leadership role through all phases of the IPT process; specifically, ensuring the team achieves all deliverable outputs of each phase. Responsibilities include investment budget authority and profit and loss to at least the gross margin level. The VSL is responsible for development and execution of the Business Plan and Program Plan and serves as the face of the organization to both external and internal customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads the Program IPT to ensure adherence to program plans, schedules and budgets for programs under assigned scope of responsibility

  • Accountable for program(s) P&L to ensure profitability targets are met

  • Manages the timely execution and administration of business unit’s contractual commitments with its customer to ensure these requirements are reviewed and implemented internally to meet and exceed program performance and business unit targets

  • Leads the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordination of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operation budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization’s interests

  • Creates program planning objectives and initiatives for policy deployment for their IPT.

  • Serve as customer advocate for product development, production support issues and repair and overhaul.

  • Coordinate management and technical decisions, while effectively arbitrating and resolving problems associated with both new and existing products and projects.

  • Leads the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operation budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization's interests.

  • Plan, organize and control assigned activity to optimize profit and meet growth objectives

  • Utilizes Policy Deployment, Continuous Improvement and New Product Introduction processes to ensure conformance to organization’s goal and initiatives and ensures timely completion

  • Ensure compliance with EHS and Ethical Policies and with Federal, State and local laws

  • Travel 10-15%

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required

  • Demonstrated responsibility for program execution to company business plans and strategies across geographically-dispersed teams in the aerospace industry.

  • Demonstrated performance in meeting and exceeding contractual commitments and customer expectations in a matrix reporting organization.

  • Demonstrated capability in meeting performance targets

  • Relevant work related experience with negotiation, proposals, business plans, budgets and contracts for complex aerospace programs

  • Must be a US citizen
