Job Summary:

Contracts managers are entrusted with our most important asset: the trust and respect of our customers. The official face of Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) to the customer, RMD’s Managers, Program Contracts handle essential communication, negotiation, and contract management throughout every phase of our customer relationship. Working as a strategic business partner within RMD, our ultimate aim is to deliver balanced, equitable deals that ensure mutual long-term success.

The RMD Contracts team has an opening for a Manager, Contracts to support the JSOW program in the Naval Power Mission Area portfolio. The successful candidate in this role will be responsible for the leadership, management, and administration of a diverse portfolio of contracts.

The selected Contracts Professional can expect to be engaged in a broad range of activities, including supporting production contracts of the world’s most sophisticated weapons, management of developmental contracts to accelerate delivery of technology to the US Military and our allies, and supporting sustainment contracts of the world’s most sophisticated weapons, as well as other exciting business ventures.

This position requires the selected candidate to be within commuting distance from RMD’s facilities in Tucson, Arizona. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Evaluate Request for Proposals (RFPs)

  • Review and coordinate proposals

  • Negotiate contracts

  • Review estimate at completion (EAC)

  • Support program management and execution reviews

  • General contract administration

  • Work closely with the Program Director, Senior Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Proposal Manager, Business/Estimating, Operations, Supply Chain, and Contracts Senior Manager

  • Submit and negotiate pricing proposals

  • Provide support to senior management regarding contractual and business issues

  • Ensure that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies

  • Advise management of contractual rights and obligations and possible mitigation of contractual/program risks

  • Examine cost structure estimates of labor, material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.

    An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for 3 additional years of experience.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field

  • 8 years of contracts experience or related business experience

  • Experience with US Government regulations such as Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS)

  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance

    Qualifications We Value:

  • Juris Doctor or MBA

  • Hands-on proposal preparation and negotiation experience

  • Direct experience with customer relationship management

  • Experience managing production contracts valued at $300M or higher

  • Ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts, such as incentives, share ratios, and risk quantification

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with customers and internal partners based on understanding and trust

  • Proven record of responsiveness with strong time management and organization skills.

  • Hands-on proposal preparation or negotiation experience

  • Experience with US Government and US Prime Contractor customers in the acquisition and end-user and communities

  • Experience working is a fast-paced environment, where prioritization was required to be effective.

  • Past experience in working within a team and fostering teamwork and trust

  • Contractual acumen with proficiency in contracts fundamentals

  • Related contract administration experience with the US Department of Defense (DoD) including proposal preparation and contract negotiations, or a combination of five years of contracts management experience and five years of other functional experience related to business management
