Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD), a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civilian markets, is seeking an experienced leader for the Airframes and Advanced Effectors (AAE) mechanical design department, a subset of the Mechanical Products Team (MPT). This leader will be responsible for a department focused on design, development and test of missile systems for critical requirements, including air-to-air, strike, surface Navy air defense, land combat missiles, guided projectiles, exoatmospheric kill vehicles, and direct energy weapons. The vision of the MPT is to be the premier organization for mechanical design and analysis of air and missile defense systems, precision weapons, radars, undersea systems, command and control systems and advanced defense technologies through our world class people, and technology. Are you interested in leading a department responsible for developing and integrating hardware on the front-end of the business, often employing advanced materials, technology, and approaches in order to provide enabling technology to the customer? Hypersonic systems? Underwater launched systems? Air-launched systems? We have a diverse team and employ engineers with a variety of backgrounds in order to effectively meet a large number of different customer needs on time.
The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, lead and manage the Airframes and Advanced Effectors department including the following:
Lead continuous improvement of our People, Processes, Tools, and Products.
Reviewing program status, executing corrective actions, assisting the Center Manager and Director in all areas related to Directorate operations including program/proposal staffing, cost proposal preparation and approval, personnel development and growth, performance development process, direction of RMD initiatives and controlling overhead expenses.
Extensive interaction with Program Managers, CPT and IPT Leads, and Directorate Managers to achieve business objectives.
Ensuring compliance with all phases of the Gate process for all assigned capture activities and programs to maximize business performance.
Monitor all EACs, Earned Value and develop tracking books to ensure program execution meets or exceeds program execution expectations.
Develop partnerships across RMS Engineering, Raytheon, industry, and academia to facilitate strategic capability development
Support business needs through appropriate hiring and staffing.
Ensure appropriate staff development through effective performance management including goal setting, career development, training, developmental task assignments, and ratings.
Provide effective guidance, coaching and leadership to Section Leaders for effective execution of the design and development process.
Support leadership alignment to define and achieve the strategic vision for the Sensors and Shipboard Effectors Center and MPT organization.
Champion respect, ethics and diversity initiatives within the organization
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications you must have:
Twelve (12)+ years engineering experience to include leadership roles
Experience working with DoD customers
Experience in leadership of technical engineering teams driving technical and cost performance
Experience preparing both technical and cost proposals, the ability to critically review proposals
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering Science, Math, or other Engineering discipline
6+ years of experience in hardware design, development, and/or test, preferably of defense-related components or systems
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.
U.S. citizenship is required
Willing to relocate to Tucson, AZ (relo package available)
Qualifications we value:

Experience in airframe development, electronics packaging, mechanisms, for missiles or similar applications
Demonstrated collaboration with cross-disciplined teams, using trust, respect, and innovation to drive results towards a shared vision
Prior section leader experience, department leader experience, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead experience
Understands effective talent development and staffing
Experience with hiring and personnel management.
Experience with critical conversations
EVMS certification, PMX Level 6 certified
Knowledgeable about EAC and Proposal review process
Experience presenting to Customers and Senior leaders
Strong understanding of RMD IPDS gates and processes
Solid understanding and application of EV metrics (CPI, SPI, TCPI, BAC, EAC, LRE, etc.)
Experience in risk and opportunity management
