Job Summary:

Environmental Compliance Specialist. Responsible for the management of water related compliance programs, including Backflow Prevention; Bulk Chemical Transfers; Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC); Storage Tanks; Storm Water; Sumps, Pits & Containments; and Wastewater Management. Responsible for managing Air Force funded water compliance projects. Manages multiple software tools for compliance programs. Supports additional programs, including the Air Force data requests, the Environmental Impact Analysis Process, the New Chemical Review Process, Endangered Species Program and other Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability programs.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental regulations and/or company policy. Interprets federal, state, and local regulations as they apply to environmental compliance practices. Evaluates current policies, procedures, and documentation for compliance and that regulatory reporting requirements are met. Writes and updates environmental programs and procedures. Applies for new permits and permit renewals. Plans, develops, and implements long-range remedial environmental solutions in order to reduce environmental risk and protect company assets. May negotiate solutions with environmental regulatory agencies to minimize regulatory impact and compliance damages.

Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. Sees that inspections are conducted, corrective actions are completed on time, and all necessary documentation is kept. Manages data using spreadsheets and databases.

Investigates and resolves compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from within the company, government regulatory agencies, and Air Force. Develops and implements programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance programs.

Works under general supervision. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy. Makes frequent application of technical standards and concepts. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

This position can be an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer II or a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer, based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Environmental Health & Safety Engineer II

+ + Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • 2 Years’ Experience in Environmental Compliance program coordination

  • Experience with Technical writing

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project Management)

  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Sr Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

    • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 4 Years’ Experience in Environmental Compliance program coordination

  • Experience with Technical writing

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project Management)

  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
