Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, and Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:

The Mission Support & Sustainment (MS&S) Department seeks an experienced Logistician & Technical Writer based out of Tucson, AZ.

In this role, you’re directly involved in the development and update of the following:

  • Executing and leading tasks in the areas of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Sustainment Analysis, and Sustainment Planning

  • Identification and elevation of technical and schedule risks.

  • Performing logistics support and engineering analysis to develop provisioning data (such as readiness-based spares models) in a medium as required by the customer

  • Technical manuals and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)

  • Processes, procedures, training devices and equipment used to train civilian and military personnel to operate and support the product.

    Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Provide general engineering support for development of a sustainment model for a new program

  • Develop engineering white papers and presentations to help inform customers and influence support decisions

  • Perform supportability analyses and provide recommendations for long term product support, including but not limited to spares recommendations, maintenance procedure updates, and parts and materials substitutions as needed

  • Ensure the technical integrity, suitable quality, and adherence to standards for logistics artifacts supporting Logistics, Provisioning, Field Support, Intermediate Level Maintenance, and Depot Level Maintenance through engagement in peer reviews, program reviews, design reviews, failure review boards, investigation teams, and working groups

  • Assist with Whole Life Engineering sustainment inputs to product design and production

  • Define and promote technical strategies for long-term product sustainment

  • Act as a liaison with all engineering disciplines, such as Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Test, Materials and Processes, and Structural design functions

  • Develop operator-level and maintainer-level documentation for complex effector and sensor systems

  • Inform and collaborate with the functional management, program management, and execution team to ensure technical success while balancing goals, approaches, and risks

    Domestic & International travel may be required (approximately 10% domestic and 5% international)

    An advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience may be considered for this role. A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this role.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    Education: Bachelor's degree OR 8+ years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. (Two years of related work experience can substitute for one year of college education)

    Employment Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience with logistics, sustainment or writing technical documentation in a military or civilian environment

  • Related experience in logistics, sustainment, support plans, system fielding, proposals, integration, life cycle management or technical manual development

  • An active and in-scope Secret US Security Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance

  • Broad knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) processes, including sustainment and supportability principles and concepts
