The successful candidate will develop technical solutions to difficult problems within the High Power Microwave and Pulsed Power Areas of the Directed Energy Business. This position requires an experienced senior technical and business leader with a proven track record of invention, capture, and successful execution in High Power Microwave (HPM) and Pulse Power technologies. The candidate will work under limited supervision while determining and developing independent solutions to meet overall design objectives. This position requires frequent interaction and coordination with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, scientists, external customers, and a wide variety of support staff. Using a variety of software tools and electrical test equipment, the candidate will be responsible for stages of RF design that span the full range of the design process.
The candidate will be expected to generate concepts, develop designs, test prototypes, and integrate subsystems into larger directed energy systems.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Specific experience in design for and execution of HPM, pulsed power and power electronics systems testing.
Specific experience working with high voltage (300-kV to 1-MV).
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience comprised from any combination of work, academic or scientific research
Design, development, test, or operation of a wide variety of pulsed power and RF systems.
Experience with circuit analysis, high power RF testing, and system integration.
Knowledge and experience with US Air Force, US Army and/or US Navy R&D processes.
Specific experience in high power microwave systems.
Experience related to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Radio Frequency Interference (RFI)
Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of electromagnetics and electrical circuits
Experience with any of the following tools: Mentor Graphics Designer, PSPICE, System Vision, MATLAB, Mathcad, IDL, Computer Simulation Technologies (CST), Microwave Design Studio, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), 3D particle-in-cell codes like ICEPIC, and Advanced Design System (ADS).
Knowledge of printed circuit board fabrication and circuit card assembly processes and related industry specifications
Experience with test equipment, test automation scripting, test conduction, sensor control
Experience in HPM Effects Testing of electronic components, subsystems, and systems in various environments such as TEM cells, mode stirred chambers, anechoic chambers, and free field.
Minimum Degree: BS in Engineering, Science or Mathematics. PhD in Physics or other scientific or engineering discipline desired
Security Clearance: Existing Secret Clearance (Top Secret desired)
