We are looking for you to join our team at Raytheon Missile and Defense as the Operations Manager (Ops Manager) for the System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate within RMD Engineering. We are seeking a Senior Engineering leader to assume this important role within the directorate. The SD&A Directorate consists of two centers and over 2000 people. We are the home for Systems Engineering!

As the Operations Manager for SD&A, you will be an integral member of the directorate leadership team and play a key role within the directorate of ensuring the directorate, and the teams that make up the directorate, are running the business in a robust and efficient manner. The Operations team is comprised of team members driving our learning, process, and metrics initiatives for SD&A. Job Summary: The Ops Manager IS A FULL TIME REMOTE opportunity that has a variety of responsibilities which fall within three main categories: Operational Excellence, Staffing and Hiring, and Communication and Collaboration, and will require the ability to continuously adapt to changing business needs.

To ensure that the directorate is operating as effectively as possible, the Ops Manager will be responsible for helping the directorates run the business through the following:

  • Coordinate Directorate Engineering workforce planning process

  • Manage staffing meetings across Directorate and collection of workforce planning data and Team Strength

  • Supervise a team of Engineering Operations Analysts

  • Support Overhead/ LIFT project efforts across directorate

  • Support capital/IRAD requests and management of Capital project efforts

  • Coordinate learning, training strategy and nominations in partnership with learning POC

  • Support management of RSTARs

  • Manage and create Engineering LT presentations in support of operational and other reviews, meetings, and town hall events

  • Support creation and rollout of goals and metrics

  • Create and maintain Rshare (or other collaboration tools) to include data structures and assisting with organizing materials; grant and maintain permission groups

  • Support roll-up of newsletter content or other organizational communication

  • Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 6 years of relevant experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Relevant experience which may include leadership roles such as Section Head, IPT Lead, CPT Lead, and/or Program Management

  • Experience in functional management methods, tools and techniques with practical application
