Job Description

Raytheon Intelligence & Space's Field Engineering is currently seeking a Sr. Field Engineer I. This dual-role position will be responsible for the Multi-Function RF System (MFRFS) radar systems and/or the Coyote UAS weapon platform. The Field Engineer (FE) is responsible for supporting/overseeing operation and maintenance activities of RF sensor systems and the Coyote UAS weapon system in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other undisclosed Middle East locations. The FE will oversee all installation, test, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for the radar system (including operation of a tactical generator and an environmental cooling unit) and the Coyote UAS at the assigned locations. The FE will be considered the technical expert and must be able to answer all technical questions regarding the operation and maintenance of the systems. The FE will provide guidance to the US Army soldiers to complete emplacement, tactical operation, preventive maintenance and march order tasks. The FE will be responsible for inventory control of a stock of field level replaceable spare parts and record all maintenance related actions. The FE will provide support to all locations on a rotational basis. MFRFS personnel will work in McKinney, TX when not deployed. Coyote personnel will work in Tucson, AZ when not deployed. The position will be located in McKinney, TX or Tucson, AZ and personnel will be required to live in the local area.

Required Skills and Experience:

•Experience working with Depot Support maintenance experience on electronics or radar.

Must have a solid understanding of basic radar theory.

•Willing to live/work in an austere environment at Forward Operating Bases and remote locations.

•Electronics experience - familiar with the tools and test equipment commonly used in electronic installation, maintenance and testing.

•Must be a self-starter and have the ability to align priorities appropriately and work.

•Must possess excellent technical writing, oral communication and negotiation skills.

Desired Skills:

•A minimum of 4 years experience in the repair of military sensor or radar systems.

•Military experience is highly desirable, graduate of US military sensor or radar technical school (e.g. US Army MOS 94M Radar Maintainer).

•Experience working on Sentinel Radars, KuRFS Radar Systems, Q36/Q37 FireFinder Radar Systems, LCMR (Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar) highly desirable.

•Understanding of sensor or radar system operations and maintenance.

•Experience with military generators.

•Experience with tactical HVAC systems.

•Aircraft maintenance experience highly desired

•UAS assembly, disassembly and repair experience.

•Experience with 1.4 explosives or gas generators.

•Minimum 2 years experience as a UAS maintainer/pilot.

•Minimum 2 years experience with munitions handling/loading.

•Knowledge of military protocols.

•Past deployment experience in a combat environment a plus.

Required Education: Required Education (including Major): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience, OR an Associate Degree with 8 years of related experience OR High School and 12 years of related experience, training and education may substitute for the degree.

Security Clearance Requirements: Must have Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance

Special Work Circumstances:

•Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include Afghanistan, Iraq and other international destinations.

•Must be able to deploy to remote international locations with little notification.

•Must be willing and able to deploy to environments that may include harsh living conditions (extreme heat and cold, deployed living conditions, etc.) and/or hostile work environment.

•Must be able to move and/or lift weights such as test equipment, ladders, tools, and cable reels weighing up to 60 pounds using proper lifting techniques or material moving equipment.

•Must be able to live and work in the Middle East desert with temperatures above 120 degrees F.
