Raytheon Technologies Sr Mechanical Design Engineer - Airframes and Advanced Effectors in Tucson, Arizona
Are you interested in developing and integrating hardware on the front-end of the business, often employing advanced materials, technology, and approaches in order to provide enabling technology to the customer? Hypersonic systems? Underwater launched systems? Air-launched systems? We have a diverse team and employ engineers with a variety of backgrounds in order to effectively meet a large number of different customer needs on time. If that weren’t enough, the people are great and the company cares about its employees.
Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD), a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civilian markets, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer within the Airframes and Advanced Effectors mechanical design department, a subset of the Mechanical Products Team.
The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office (or virtually, temporarily); some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.

This position can be a salary grade level of G08 or G09 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities required for the position.
Work with multi-disciplinary engineers to propose, design and develop, and integrate/test hardware within the Airframes and Advanced Effectors mechanical design department
Contribute to one or more of our contract-funded and internally-funded efforts, each of which is at a different phase of development (proposal, design, and integration/test). Engineers are generally assigned to one effort at a time but may work multiple efforts over the course of several years.
Communicate with cross-disciplined, diverse engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements
Work independently under limited supervision and act as the responsible engineer, often in a project leadership role, over entire projects or processes within an effort. This often requires the ability to delegate and review the work of others
Design, integrate, and test mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across teams in order to ensure successful hardware performance, usually demonstrated through flight tests.
